Shawn
When I lean down and finally touch my lips to hers I swear I feel a trigger pull inside of me and a rush of euphoria travels through me. I have always heard the 'feeling the spark' expression, but until this point in my life I never felt this connection when I kissed someone. I feel her hands rest against my chest and I lean into her slightly more, pressing her hands firmly onto me. I don't want this kiss to end, but I also don't want to push too far. Especially being able to even get this chance to kiss her given my behavior half the night. I try to memorize the feeling of her lips before I pull my lips from hers. I can hear her breathing heavily and when I open my eyes hers are still closed.
"I've wanted to do that since you opened your door tonight," I tell her and watch as her eyes open and she smiles at me. I straighten myself back up to my regular height and smirk down at her. "It's getting late and we've had an eventful night. I'll take you home," I tell her as I move and open the passenger door for her.
As she gets in her eyes stay locked on mine as I continue to smile down at her. I get in the car and pull out of the parking lot. I glance over at her and she's staring out her window, smiling softly as we pass closed shops that line the street. I stare down at her hand closest to me as it rests on her leg. I hesitantly reach out and take it in mine, my movements slow, but intentional. She quickly glances down to where our hands are intertwined now, looking surprised for a split second before I see her relax. She smiles at me and I'm relieved she doesn't pull her hand from mine as I rest them on the center console and focus back on the road. We reach her dorm building and I park in the closest spot I can find to the front door of the building.
"I'd really like to take you out on an official date," I mutter out nervously as I bite down on my lower lip and stare across the car at her. "One where I won't be on the ice for half of it." She laughs lightly at my joke and I smile at the sound, loving that I'm the cause for it.
"I would really like that too," she agrees to the date and I exhale a breath I didn't realize I was holding in. She leans across the center console of the car and places a soft kiss on my cheek, her lips warm on my skin. She smiles at me, blushing lightly as she turns and opens her door, starting to climb out. I quickly hop out of the car and race around to meet her as she closes the passenger door. I can tell she is surprised to see me out of the car as she raises an eyebrow at me amused.
"It's going to take more than one disastrous date to get me to invite you to stay the night," I feel my cheeks heat up at her words and I glance down at the ground as she giggles at her playful joke.
"I was just going to walk you to your door," I admit to her, although I can't deny the idea of spending the night with her has my mind running wild. I clear my throat as I push the thoughts out of my mind, not wanting to get myself too excited. Lyla smiles up at me as I reach down for her hand again and she intertwines her fingers with mine as we walk up to her building. As we make it to the second floor and stop in front of her door I start to miss her already and she's still right in front of me.
"I will talk to you tomorrow," I tell her and she nods in response. I lean down and plant a soft and slow kiss on her lips, lingering just a little bit longer then I had planned.
"Goodnight Lyla," I whisper to her as our faces are still only inches apart before I stand back up.
"Goodnight Shawn." She turns and unlocks her door, pushing it open. Then with a final glance and smile back at me she enters her room and closes the door. I feel myself grinning like a smitten idiot as I walk back out of the building and to my car. Tonight had some bumps to it, but I wouldn't have changed anything given outcome. I touch my lips as I slide into the driver's seat of my car. I can still taste the cherry lip chap Lyla was wearing.
I start the drive back to my house as I try to come up with ideas for a date. I know I won't be able to sleep when I get home, feeling wired. I could take her to dinner, it's classic and gives tons of time to talk with one another. We could go to the lake if it's nice enough out, I could pack food and drinks for a picnic. Girls like that kind of stuff, I think to myself. I park on the road in front of my house and head inside. No one's awake when I pass the living room and head upstairs to my room. I spend the next hour or so researching date ideas on the internet before I feel myself yawning. I set an alarm to make sure I don't sleep until the afternoon and soon after I shut the lights off I feel myself drift off to sleep.
