A Love Like This

Chapter III | Vixen

Adrian decided to take me to Grand Lux Cafe for lunch. As we entered the dimly lit restaurant the hostess greeted us with a smile.

"Reservations for Murphy" Adrian said as the hostess checked the tablet in front of her. Taking two menus from the holder she motioned us to follow her to our table.

Adrian placed his hand at the small of my back as he ushered me to the table. Issuing a thank you as he pulled my chair out for me, I smoothed out the fabric of my pencil skirt before taking my seat. Once the hostess disappeared my eyes focused their gaze on Adrian.

"I'm not going to lie, this is my favorite restaurant. You earned some brownie points" I teased picking up my menu

"Well I hope we can come here for lunch every once and a while you know" Adrian's lips curled into a smile

Blushing at his words I brought my eyes up to his to studied his handsome face. His eyebrows were knitted together as he read over the menu. I didn't realize how long I've been staring until a waiter came over to our table.

"Welcome to Grand Lux, my name is Nick and I'll be your waiter. May I start you off with something to drink" He asked holding his pad in his hand

"I would like a glass of Chardonnay" I said

"Any specific kind?" The waiter asked nicely briefly looking at me

"Any will do" I said giving him a smile

"And for the gentleman?" He asked looking over to Adrian

Adrian looked over the wine menu for a few more seconds before bringing his eyes up. "I'll have the same"

Nick picked up our wine menus and said he will be back to take our orders. I started to trace the embroidery on the napkin in front of me. For some reason I was feeling nervous which never really happened. I could go toe to toe with some of the worst of the worst but here at this moment I felt like a high schooler on a date with her crush. Removing my brown orbs from the napkin I've been toying with they were met with Adrian's gaze.

"Thank you for taking me out for lunch. I can honestly say this made my day better" I said meaning every word. His kind gesture turned my once bad day into a better one.

"It's no problem Vixen. Next time it's your treat" Adrian chuckled giving me a playful wink

"I'll be sure to take you to Wendy's" I teased as Nick arrived to our table. He placed the glasses of wine in front of us. Nick prepared himself to take our orders. I scanned over the menu one last time before placing it back on the table.

"May I have the cajun chicken and shrimp jambalaya " I requested giving the menu to Nick

"And I will have the Ribeye and can you make sure the steak is medium well please" Adrian asked returning the menu as well

Picking up my wine glass, I placed it to my lips. Drinking down the sweet wine I unknowingly began to drink in Adrian's appearance. He was preoccupied with something on his phone which gave me enough time to really look at him. His skin was smooth and clear, freckles adorned his cheeks and with a few here and there on the bridge of his nose. His lips were a flush pink color and were plump and his eyes were an intoxicating chocolate brown color that you couldn't help but get lost in. There were times I found myself getting lost in them while at the office.

Why I am staring at Adrian  like this? True he is a VERY attractive man, but I do not mix business with pleasure. But most importantly I'm in a relationship, it might be having a rough patch at the moment I was still taken.  And yet here I am unable to keep my eyes off of him.
