Calix pov

Shit

" Why don't you come to join us for a moment," my father said with a smile. God, I hate this. I simply nodded and made my way to the cushioned chair away from his guest and took a seat. I looked up to see his expression changed. His face no longer held that small smile that he had when I entered the room. He gave me a murderous stare at my action.

He seemed to remember we had guests and turned his attention back towards them. I have no intention of being in the same room as him, especially when he's happy. Something is always up and by the way this princess of France is looking at me. I don't like it.

It's not that she isn't attractive, she is very pretty. She has curly blond hair that reaches her mid-back. Her eyes were the color of the ocean. She had long lashes and plump lips. I'm sure she caught the eyes of many men. I was lost admiring her that I hadn't realized I was staring at her the entire time. As soon as my eyes met hers she looked down flustered.
I averted my gaze for her direction and glanced over at my father.

Clearly, he's too busy to tell me why I'm here. He and Thomas were talking and laughing as if they're close friends.
Thomas's wife was sitting beside him quietly zoning out of their conversation. It seems as if all the kings are the same.
I was starting to get bored of sitting in his office doing nothing so I decided to head out.

Just as I stood up my father spoke.
"Calix why don't you show Roseline around the palace since they will be staying a few days here"

" Can't one of the maids do that father? I have other things to attend to than to give people a tour of the palace" I said bluntly
Thomas's wife gasped at my rudeness while her husband gave me a deadly stare... Or I guess what he thinks is a deadly stare. He's going to need to be more serious if he thinks he can scare me with his looks.
Roseline looked at me with her mouth slightly open in shock.

My father looked like he was ready to cut me up into tiny pieces and send me off into the desert.
"No Calix, I expected you to do that since you are the prince and future king. Now will you please show Roseline around" he said through his teeth with a forced
smile.
I sighed and began to walk towards the exit of the room. I pushed open the door and made my way out. I glanced back to see her still sitting in her chair.
"Are you coming or do you expect me to fetch you?" I asked openly

Shocked by my words once again, she quickly stood up and made her way towards me.
I walked ahead of her while she kept walking behind me trying to make small talk with me.

"So how old are you?" she asks with excitement laced in her voice
I rolled my eyes at her question and continued to walk. I'm pretty sure she knows how old I am. If she expects me to show her this place then she's clearly wrong. I kept walking around the halls not while she kept trying to get my attention.

"Are you always like this... So quiet?" She asked for the fourth time.
"Are you going to keep quiet because your voice is really starting to annoy me and yes I am always like this? Now I would prefer a little bit of peace and quiet while we're heading back to my father's office and if he asks you how the tour went I would prefer you telling him how beautiful his palace is and we part ways understand" I stated.

I didn't give her anything to respond as I continued to walk back to my father's office. Since I spoke my little speech, Ocean eyes hadn't said a word which I was thankful for. Her voice was really starting to annoy me.
Yet I was still confused as to why they are here. I haven't heard my father mentioned anything about the king and queen of France so why are they here and more importantly why are they staying with us.
I'm really not in the mood for guests today.

As we got closer to my father's office I noticed Roseline's body posture change. She looked tense for some reason.
I ignored her and opened the door to my father's office and entered the room. They seemed as if they were discussing something important since as soon as I entered they stopped talking and smiled at me. Weird and I don't like it.

My father looked past me with a smile glancing at Roseline.
"Roseline, how was the tour?" He asked.
I looked at her coldly hoping she will respond to that question just like I told her to.
Her gaze met mine for a quick second before she looked away and faced my father.
"It was great Your Majesty. Your palace is beautiful" she responded

I internally smile before turning to my father.
"Father I'm going to take my horse out for a ride. I will be back late" I said before turning on my heels and walking out of the room.
He wasn't going to say anything because there was a guest in the room. He wouldn't want to risk his reputation as king In Front of other persons of higher status.

I quickly made my way towards my room remembering Alberto was there waiting for me.
As I open the door I saw Alberto sitting in one of the chairs reading a book.
"Your highness I'm guessing you don't like the new guests," he said not looking up from his book

"Ugh, I can't stand their daughter. I mean don't get me wrong she is a pretty woman but when she opens her mouth I want to die. Her voice makes my ears hurt." I said slightly annoyed
"What I don't understand is why they are here. Father has never let another king stayed in his palace so I'm confused as to why this is happening" I said curiosity

"Maybe they are doing some kind of business together. Bringing two kingdoms together is good for both of the kingdoms." He said
"True, but this is my father we're talking about. Since when does he care about these things? His Ego is way too big for him and another king to get along so well" I said

I glanced over at him expecting to receive a response but he just shrugged at my words.
"Anyway, I'm talking the horse out for a ride. I'll be back late. I need to visit Dara again" I said with a smile before standing up and making my way towards the door.
