It was the next day and Sam was still asleep on my bed

I got up and ready for school

I think I can make it today I thought to myself

Once I was dressed for school I went downstairs

"Ashley"

"Yeah mom?"

"Darek and his son are coming over for dinner"

"Oh... ok"

There was something about Darek and I didn't like it

And I could just imagine what his son is like

I walked to school and ran into Logan

"Sorry" he said

I just looked at him

Things were still awkward between us

Logan just looked at me then walked away

"Hey Ashley" I turned around to see Adriana Monica Lilly and Nathan

"Hi guys"

"Why weren't you here yesterday you totally missed-" Adriana kept talking but Lilly cut her off

"Adriana"

"Sorry"

"So how are you and Jake" Nathan asked

"Me and Jake aren't a thing anymore"

"What why not?" Monica asked

"He broke up with me two days ago"

"I'm sorry" Lilly said

"It's ok"

"Then what made you come to school today?"

"I don't know, I just realized I can't hide every day"

"That's true" Adriana said

"We'll walk in with you" Nathan said

"Thanks guys"

We all walked into the school and everyone looked at me and whispered

Some girls gave me mean looks like I did something bad

I couldn't take it anymore people stared and pointed at me everywhere I turned

I ran off

Monica Adriana And Lilly followed me

Nathan stayed back to find Jake

I started to cry

I found an empty corner and I had my back against the lockers and I slid down on the ground

"What did I even do to deserve this" I whispered to myself

"You ok?" I heard I guy say

"Are you here to point and stare at me too"

"No, I wouldn't even if I had to"

I looked up to see Connor

He had his hand out and I took it

I hugged him

He tensed at first but then hugged me back

We walked outside and sat on the bench

"You don't deserve any of this" Connor said

"Tell me about it" I said huffing

We talked for a while and I finally felt a little better

When Connor left I saw Logan

"Ashley"

"What" I said glancing at him

"About the night we did the project

"What about it"

"I love you"

"Well I don't, now leave me alone Logan"

"Right" he said

I watched him walk away

I didn't go to class at all but I stayed at school

After school was over I walked home

When I came home Sam jumped to me

"Mom I'm gonna take Sam for a walk"

"Okay, remember we have guests for Dinner so don't be out too long"

"I won't"

I put on Sam's leash and we walked to the beach

When we got to the beach I took off his leash

He roamed around

I found a stick and showed it to Sam

He jumped and jumped waiting for me to throw it

I threw the stick in the water and he went to get it

He came back and I grabbed the stick and ran in the water

Sam chased me and barked

Sam's barking caught someone's attention

Jake's

He was surfing and he looked at the barking dog and he saw me

I turned slightly to see Jake paddling towards me

"Sam lets go" I said quickly getting out of the water but I wasn't fast enough

"Ashley!" Jake yelled making me stop

I turned around and held Sam's leash

"What" I said

"Where have you been" he said shaking his wet hair

"Staying away from you"

"Why?"

"Oh don't play dumb with me"

"I'm no-"

"Have fun with your girlfriend"

"I-"

"Just forget it" and I walked off

Sam and I finally got home

"Mom I'm home!" I said

"Guests will be here in an hour"

"Okay I'll go get ready"

I changed my clothes and brushed my hair

I fed Sam then watched tv in my room till I heard a knock on the door

My mom answered the door

"Ashley Darek and his son are here"

Great Darek's here I thought

I still didn't like him

I went down the stairs

There was Darek and his son

I couldn't believe it

His son was Logan
