Yongsun had a whole room for herself, but at some point that night, when she just couldn't fall asleep, she decided to bring her pink, stuffed, decorated with moon and star pattern rabbit with her to Byulyi's room and snuggled to her side. Byulyi didn't even flinch and just opened her arms welcomingly, which the older woman gladly rested her head on.

For some reason, she started to feel sleepy the moment her back touched the bed. Maybe it was the fresh scent of her now housemate; maybe it was her presence that made her feel safe and relaxed. Maybe both.

- Yong?

- Hmm?

- Can you go with me?

- Where?

- To, uh, my first ultrasound, in three days' time? - Byulyi whispered, half not wanting to fully wake the brunette up, half actually feeling nervous. This was a really big milestone in her journey as a mother and she hoped her best friend could make time for her since she was so important to her and-

- Of course. I will even riot if you don't let me do so. Sleep, it's late. - Not bothering to open her eyes, the older woman replied, putting one leg over Byulyi's and shortly after she started snoring. The lawyer softly chuckled. She really was an overthinker.

Greeting Yongsun and Byulyi at the hospital was an unfamiliar face.

- Hello, I'm Wheein, doctor from Radiology department. - The girl with a pretty dimple smiled. - You must be Moon Byulyi? I'm informed by Dr. Park that this is your first ultrasound, right?

Byulyi nervously nodded. Yongsun who was sitting right beside her squeezed her hand reassuringly.

- And this is...

- Yongsun. I'm her friend. Nice to meet you. - The older woman smiled politely.

- Alright, please follow me, I'll be the one performing the ultrasound for Ms. Moon. - Wheein turned around, leading the two into the room meters away from them.

The cool lubricating gel tickled her a little as it was spread on her small bump. Yongsun sat beside her bed, holding her hand tight, as the cute doctor started moving the transducer to identify the position and location of the baby. The only sound that filled the room was the occasional beeping of buttons Wheein pressed on the machine.

Smiling widely, she turned the screen to explain whatever was going on to the expectant women. More precisely, she only had to talk to Byulyi, since Yongsun as a doctor would certainly know how to read those images.

- So far, I can only see a single fetus, here. At twelve weeks, it has the size of a mushroom and may have started moving, although it's too light for us to be able to feel it. We can also quite make out its face features. With abdominal ultrasound we can only get 2D sonograms, but when you come back for your next ultrasound, we may get to hear its heartbeat through transvaginal ultrasound.

Byulyi was absolutely washed away by waves of emotions. Looking at the monitor made her ears buzz with all foreign feelings churning inside her. There really was a living thing growing inside her. That was her child and it was developing healthily. The lawyer suddenly felt a bond between her and the little soul in her belly, so strong that it was mind-numbing. Byulyi covered her face with both hands, trying to hold back her tears but failed.

- My child... - She whispered to herself. - My dearest child....

The angel that she could go extra miles to protect.
