I Just Happen To Be Your Doctor

The past couple days have been the most boring days of my life. I've been in the hospital now for 3 days.

Nurse Dianne told me this morning there's a rumor going around that I'll be released soon.

Yesterday Anthony had to work and he's at work right now. He texted me and said he gets off at 4, but its only 1. He gave me his sweatshirt this morning and I've been wearing it all day, it smells like him, and it makes me happy.

"Knockity knock knock." Doctor Shank's voice rings as he walks into my room. I set my phone down next to me and listen carefully.

"So today we were talking and decided to let you out tomorrow. You are doing very well and it seems like Anthony has had a huge impact on your mood lately. Your cuts are healing remarkably, and there is no sign of an infection. If Anthony would be willing though to take you home once he gets off of work and take off tomorrow to stay with you, you may go home when he comes here after he gets off work."

"He told me that he gets off at 4... Would that be okay?" I ask, I'm very eager to finally go home.

"Yes that would be fine, would you like to call him and mention everything?" Doctor Shank asks.

"Of course. Yes."

"Okay, I'll be out here. If you need anything, just buzz."

"Thank you!" I pick up my phone and dialed Anthony's work number

*ring*

*ring*

"Hello, this is Chris how may I help you?"

"Hey, Chris! Its Cam!"

"Oh hey girl! How've things been going in the hospital? Everything okay?"

"Yeah! Actually, they might be releasing me today if Anthony could take off tomorrow!"

"THAT'S GREAT! Here I'll let him know you're on!"

"Thanks Chris!"

"Annnnthonyyyy your girlyfriend is on the phone for youuuuu" I hear Chris sing in the background. And not even a second later Anthony's voice chimes in.

"CAM! Hey what's up? Everything okay!?"

"Yeah, babe, everything's fine. Do you think you could take off tomorrow to watch me?"

"Are they releasing you?"

"Yeah, they said that everything's going good and that you're really helping me out, and that my cuts are healing well, and that if you would want to take me home tonight and watch over me tomorrow as well, that I could leave when you get off work and come by."

"Oh my gosh babe! Of course! God, I wish I could kiss you right now I'm so excited!!!!"

"Thank you thank you!!!!"

"You're welcome baby. Hey, I gotta go. I'll be there before you know it. I promise! Bye babe."

"See you soon." I say and end the call. "Doctor Shank?" I say, not too loud because I know he's not far.

"Coming....... What's up?" He walks into the room.

"Come here." I say and he walks over to my bed. I give him a huge hug "thank you," I whisper. "thank you for saving me. Thank you."

"You're welcome," he says and pulls away. "but I didn't save you, Anthony did. He yelled out to you, and you heard him. I know what its like to be almost dead. If someone calls out to you, you hear it. You saved yourself for Anthony. Five years ago I was in a car accident, and I was dead and my girlfriend yelled my name and I woke up. Now we're happily married with a baby boy. You and Anthony saved you. I just happen to be your doctor."

"Thank you. He's going to get me after work."

"Sounds good! I'll talk to you later." He says and walks out of the room.
