Jill let the wooden door shift shut behind her and she let out a shaky breath.

She dropped one arm limply to her side as she fiddled with the S.T.A.R.S. badge on her chest. Jill glanced down at the shiny badge, biting her lip as she studied it loosely with her eyes.

She finally dropped her hand from the badge, turning to look behind her at the door she just entered from.

Jill tried desperately not to let her emotions get the best of her, but it was growing more and more difficult by the minute.

She already couldn't comprehend so much of what had happened. Just yesterday, the other half of S.T.A.R.S. was dispatched for a mission to survey the Raccoon forest. And now they had been missing for over a day.

This was Jill's third year in the RPD Special Tactics and Rescue Service and nothing had been quite as scary as this.

She could still remember her first day, being given a stern talking-to by the chief of the RPD. Telling her that S.T.A.R.S. had never had a woman on the team before and he knew it was probably the worst idea Wesker had come up with. She remembered walking to the S.T.A.R.S. office with anger and frustration brewing inside of her.

She remembered meeting Captain Wesker on her first day, his sunglasses perched low on his nose creating some sort of charisma and tension in the air. The way he reassured her that she would prove useful to the team, regardless of what the chief said.

She remembered walking into the S.T.A.R.S. office for the first time, being introduced to everyone on the Alpha and Bravo team. Including Barry, who was a little too into his guns, Richard, who had the kindest heart of anyone she'd ever met, and Brad, the shy pilot.

But now... even Brad was gone.

Jill sniffled lightly and clutched the sides of her neck as she slid down the door, her mind spinning.

She remembered first meeting Brad, how his eyes had been glued to the monitors on the right wall of the S.T.A.R.S. office.

She remembered how she pulled up a chair beside him and tried to strike up a conversation, only to be met with, "uhuh," and "yep."

And when Wesker walked up behind them and berated Brad for not submitting the status report the exact way he wanted.

When Wesker finally stalked away and Brad rested his head against his hands, he finally looked up at Jill when she sighed and said,

"Don't listen to him."

Brad's eyes softened as he saw Jill's sweet smile and his cheeks immediately grew red.

"I'm Jill." She smiled and murmured softly, holding out a hand to shake his.

Brad hesitated before grasping her hand lightly and stuttering as he shook it shakily.
