In an interview with TMZ, Aaliyah's former manager/uncle, Barry, stated that he was pleased with Normani's single, Wild Side. According to Barry, his niece, "always encouraged young woman pursuing their musical and entertainment careers, to achieve their dreams."
However, he also said that it would've been "more honourable" if Normani had gotten permission for the One In A Million sample. Blackground records confirmed that no sample was ever cleared for use on Wild Side.
