He was in the bathroom and I knew that we had only a few minutes left together until, Coop was going to pick us up and take him back to his hotel. That after today, after that ride back, I wouldn’t see him again for months.
So I grabbed a napkin, and as I thought over everything that happened over the past few days, I wrote down a request. One that would either make or break our relationship.
I mean we did kiss the days after our first. Louis would turn a page of the comic and then turn his head and quickly peck my lips out of no where or would wrap his arms around me from behind as I was making us some sandwiches and press his lips against my cheek. He was so affectionate and sweet and made me wish that it would have rained so I could have used that mason jar for the first time with him, but it didn’t.
However, it was still splendid and more, neither of us really knowing what we were doing but also not caring. He was going back on tour and I was going back to civilization which didn’t seem to really hold as much of my interest as, Louis did. So we took advantage of the numbers on the clock, the two of us inseparable for the remaining days.
Then everything seemed real again and when we were both sitting in Coop’s hippie bus, I wasn’t so happy anymore.
Louis, was chatting with Coop for a bit about football again, obviously not knowing what else to talk about with the lad and my head was just resting against the window on my left, my hands rested on my lap. I was listening even though I wasn’t looking, trying to imagine how it’s going to be after he leaves. The napkin was in my pocket and Louis seemed to have gotten a hold of some of me.
I didn’t say anything, wanting him to keep that part with him. It belongs to him.
As we approached closer and closer, everything grew silent and I could tell that, Louis was glancing at me a few times, a sigh releasing from lips. And then his fingertips brushed my shoulder and I finally looked.
He was giving me a reassuring smile, his hand going into his pocket, his eyes going to Coop as if to see if he was paying us any attention.
He wasn’t.
Or at least seemed to be.
His right hand was then formed into a fist and he was still smiling and he scooted himself closer, taking off his seatbelt.
My eyebrows scrunched up together.
‘What are y-’
“Here.” He muttered, interrupting me as his hand opened to reveal his lighter.
I was just staring at it, my hands not moving until he ended up placing it in the middle of my palm.
‘This is yours though.’ I mouthed, my thumb rubbing up and down the red plastic.
