TAP! TAP! TAP!

John groaned and shoved their head into the pillow for what felt like the thousandth time.

It was nine in the morning on a Saturday. Saturday!

What kind of sicko would be making this kind of noise?

TAP! TAP! TAP! TAP!

John whined again, rolling off the bed and into some pants.

he grumbled irritably, rubbing his eyes as he made his way to the front door.

whomever this person was, they'd have a piece of his mind.

As he opened the door his face fell completely as he came face-to-back with a brown-haired girl.

he shook his head. "My wife is the sicko. that fits."

Peggy at him beamed lovingly. "Good morning, babe. how'd you sleep?"

He avoided the question. "What's going on out here?"

The young woman glanced at her husband. "It's October first. Halloween countdown starts today!"

John rolled his eyes internally. of course! it all made sense now.

Peggy had been crazy about Halloween since forever.

Only she would wake up at the crack of dawn to decorate for a holiday that's thirty days away.

"Have you seen the skeletons I bought last year? they weren't in the attic."

John left his thoughts for the time being and answered.

"No, but I can go look in the basement."

Peggy Jumped to kiss him on the cheek.

"thank you johnny. and sorry for waking you every year."

he scoffed. "Of course. and it's more than okay."

with that he skipped down to the basement, from which he would return with Peggy's skeleton. the grin on her face would make up years of sleepless October firsts.
