Recap:
We were on the door step opening the door when I jumped in front of Jack again. This time I felt it...
A white hot pain shot through my shoulder...
I fell back into the hall and pushed Jack down as I fell to the floor.
I looked down at the hand I pulled away from my shoulder. It was covered in blood...
My vision started to get a little blurry on the edges...
I could faintly hear someone desperately calling my name.
Jack.
I wanted to say that I would be fine. I just need to sleep...
I was so tired...
I closed my eyes...
Then darkness...
Nothing...
Unconscious...

Jacks POV
She pulled her hand away from her shoulder and it was covered in blood. She looked at me, eyes wide, as she fell to the ground. She was shot. What do I do?!
“MAX! EMILY! GET OUT HERE NOW!” I yelled. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and called 911.
“We have a girl who was shot on campus and we need an ambulance now!” I hung up on them and turned my attention back to Anna.
“Anna don’t close your eyes ok? The ambulance will be here soon. Anna listen to me. Tell me anything.” I cradled her head in my lap and soothingly brushed the hair from her sweaty, pale face. I heard Emily’s muffled sobs behind me but I just kept talking to Anna. I saw her eyes begin to close.
“NO! Anna you need to stay awake!” I tapped her cheek trying to get any sort of response from her but it seemed as though she had gone into shock. The blood was starting to pool underneath us as the ambulance pulled up outside of our dorm. Two men came in and slowly lifted her out of my arms and onto a gurney.
“I need to go with her.” My voice was quiet and strained. The girl I love had been shot because she was trying to protect me. I looked up at the E.M.T with tears in my eyes. “Please. She got hurt because of me. Please let me go with her.”
The woman looked at him with pity. “Who are you to her?” she asked.
“I’m her boyfriend. She doesn’t have any family here. Her foster parents live back in the states please!” I was close to getting on my knees to beg them to let me go.
“Alright. Get in but stay out of the way ok?” She clapped a sympathetic hand on my shoulder and we raced to the back of the ambulance. I turned around and yelled over my shoulder to Em and Mac, “Meet us there!”
The doors shut and I quickly sat down and grabbed onto Anna’s cold, pale hand. She was so cold.
“Lost blood.”
“Needs transfusion.”
“Bullet still lodged.”
I only heard snippets of their conversation. I was so focused on Anna’s peaceful face. It seemed like hours before we arrived when in actuality it had only been a few minutes. The ambulance stopped and the doors flew open and everyone automatically started rushing. They rolled Anna out and I jumped out after her and ran to catch up with the doctors.
