"Have fun. Don't work too hard."

I will be the first to admit that getting back into a serious relationship was much easier than I originally anticipated. I'm not sure if it was because of Sinclair in general or if my heart had really been ready for it all along (or maybe a combination of both), but I had totally taken my place into the world of dating. It was comfortable, fulfilling, and dare I even say easy. Things came so naturally and things happened just as they were supposed to.
Sinclair and I saw each other most days, whether it was for his lunch break or taking a few hours to enjoy dinner together. I found myself thinking about him when he wasn't around, and I was completely captivated by him when he was. I was loving every minute of dating him, and things truly were looking promising.
I filled Jade and Audrey in, giving them the general run down of what had happened. They, of course, were appreciative of every little crumb of information that I offered to them. I didn't give everything away, because I wanted to keep some of it to myself. Mum started calling me multiple times a week after I told her that Sinclair and I had gone official, insisting that she was just "checking in" (when I knew that she was actually calling to ask about Sinclair). I told my Mum way less than I told my friends, because there was no way I was telling Mum about my sex life.
Dad even called a few times, being less discreet with his intentions. Dad had been grilling Sinclair ever since we had dinner at their house that night, asking him millions of questions about his house plants and his garden. I felt bad for Sinclair, because I knew how my father could get about his gardening. Sinclair never seemed to mind, and honestly I think he enjoyed all the plant talk with a fellow botanist.
Sinclair and I spent most of our evenings either at my apartment or his house. It was funny how we switched back and forth, because I preferred his house and he preferred my flat. The dynamic had changed for the better since establishing things, and I was completely happy with the way things were going.
He always left early in the mornings for work, but never failed to leave little notes behind that were signed with his signature. Sometimes he would have breakfast made for when I got up. I wondered if that would be my everyday domestic life from then on.
"We told you this was worth the chance," Audrey declared through a mouthful of chocolate cupcake, "This is why you should listen to us more often."
Audrey, Jade, and I were sitting in the kitchen of Simmons' Sweets, chatting with each other while we helped Jade worked on an order. Well, I helped Jade. Audrey was just taste testing. I filled a piping bag with icing as Jade squeeze out the last of the one she was currently working with.
"I did listen to you. It just didn't happen as fast as you wanted it to." I corrected Audrey, laughing at the way she was slouched in her chair like a teenage boy.
"She has a point, Aud." Jade smirked, but her eyes never left the cake she was working with.
Audrey grumbled as she swallowed, examining the inside of her cupcake. You should've seen the way her eyes lit up when she realized it was vanilla cream filled.
"I'm just saying that I've rarely ever steered [Y/N] wrong."
"Remember our senior year prom?" I asked without hesitation.
Audrey blinked, and a beat passed before she spoke.
"Okay, I did NOT know that the punch bowl had been spiked. It was such an unoriginal move, I thought that there was no one stupid enough to try that!" Audrey defended herself, "Besides that, and all joking aside, I'm glad that things have worked out for you."
