Wilbur had always liked the woods. They were peaceful and free of small children such as Tommy and Tubbo. He would bring his guitar and his lyric book often. He would find his usual tree that was growing alone in the centre of a flower field. A small creek ran along the stones nearby, providing a gentle rhythm in the background.

He would sit there for hours, writing songs, running over ideas, sleeping, anything he felt like doing. It was routine. It was nice.

So it came as a shock when he brought a book he had been meaning to read and upon turning the page after finishing it, one of the tree branches flipped the page back.

Wilbur had dropped the book with a shout, scrambling away from the tree which also looked to be shrinking away from his shout. Wilbur calmed his breathing, though his heartbeat still thrummed loudly in his ears.

"Hello?!" He called. He felt silly talking to a tree. "Is the tree a sentient being now?" He muttered.

The winds seemed to whisper 'yes'

"What the fuck." Wilbur stated bluntly, running a hand through his curls.

"Is anyone there? Is someone controlling the tree?" He asked, cautiously approaching his book again.

At no response he sighed and sat down again, opening his book to his abandoned page. "This is stupid, I'm just going crazy from lack of sleep or something."

Wilbur tried to concentrate on his book, he really did, but all he could think of was the tree branch curling down to move the page back. Eventually he groaned in frustration and closed the book, tossing it to the side, where it lay in the grass and flowers as though nothing were wrong.

Wilbur curled up on his side and ended up falling asleep to a quiet rustling of the wind in the tree branches.

When Wilbur woke up the sun was lower in the sky, bringing a cooler temperature to the field. He sat up and stretched his arms over his head. He let out a tired sigh as he slouched down again. He turned his head to find his book to head back to L'Manburg but instead nearly had a heart attack when there was a young woman sitting criss-cross, reading his book.

He scrambled backwards with the second surprised shout of the day and the woman's head snapped upwards, eyes wide in fear.

She was dressed in greens and browns, similar to that of the tree they were next to. Her eyes were a striking ocean blue that held years of wisdom in them despite her looking to be about his age.

Her hair was tinted greenish, the green visible despite the deep black of her hair. Her skin was similarly tinted green despite being so pale.

She closed the book carefully and slid it across the grass closer to him then stood up in a rush and ran towards the tree.

"Wait!" Wilbur cried out, running after her, but when he reached the back of the tree trunk where she had headed towards, she was nowhere to be seen. She had just disappeared off the face of the earth.

"What...?" Wilbur whispered, circling the tree a couple times as though she would just reappear in front of him if he did so.

Eventually though, as the sun got lower in the sky, Wilbur gave up looking for the woman and picked up his book, leaving back to L'Manburg.

The next day, Wilbur came back to the tree, with the same book and nothing more, nothing less. He observed the tree for a minute in silence to see if it would do anything. When nothing happened he approached the tree and sat down where he always did.

He opened the book to the first page, having forgotten where he had gotten to last time. He started to read, quickly forgetting about his surroundings as he sunk into the pages of the book.
