I struggled to pick the lock that held the thick ardement chains together. With an advanced military design, it grew tobea tedious task. During this time, Jackal stared down at Kybe, arms crossed as he stood still in disguise. Kybe held his head low, eyes glancing my direction full of concern.
"What does Fang want?" Jackal growled. Kybe tensed, head still down.
"He wants the final piece." ge answered. I finally gave up on the lock, standing to stretch my crouched legs as I sighed.
"This chain is just too much for me!"
I was ignored as Jackal continued. "What is the final piece? I know it isn't you."
"I can't tell you. But I'm surprised he didn't give it away, considering you are his right hand." Kybe glanced up, a smirk on his face. Jackal tensed, his disguise slowly fading as anger flamed in his eyes.
"Fang knows what he is doing." he finally growled.
"Obviously he doesn't trust you enough then."
With these words, Jackal threw his hand across Kybe's cheek, bare claws showing to reveal the trickle of blood traveling down his cheek. With sudden reflex, I quickly stood between then, holding Kybe's head close to my chest. Their eyes didnt separate from each other.
"What is the final piece?" Jackal snapped, his tail showing itself behind his back as it wagged slowly around in the air.
"Allow me to take Christina somewhere safe, away from here. Then I will meet you in the forest to discuss what his plans are. Those are my exceptions."
"Then you can rot here!"
"Fang would surely have your head."
With Kybe's final remark, Jackal growled, accepting his defeat as his tail whipped, breaking the chain easily to allow Kybe to stand. I let go, taking a step back before finally realizing what was said.
I didn't want to be left alone.
