Prologue

I sat, trembling; hoping that my job interview would go well, and I would be excepted as a construction worker, working with the crane. The man that sat across from me had a Styrofoam cup of coffee, and he sipped it cautiously; careful not to burn himself. When the man put down the cup, he looked at my profile to see how well I would be able to work. The look in his eyes made my heart go racing, and that's when I began to have a cold drop of sweat fall down the back of my neck.

"Well, you did get a high school diploma and a college degree, but why would a girl so small want to do construction work?" he asked.

"Well, I've always been fond of using tools and building small bird houses. It was always my dream to help build a city and make it stronger!" I answered.

"Well you wouldn't start work for a while. We are working with a small laboratory. There could be high explosives that-" he was interrupted by a frightened worker that had come in.

"Sir, a strange creature was found in the lab!"

"What do you mean?" there was no time for an answer as we heard yells and cries outside the building. The boss and worker ran outside, but I ran up to the window to stay safe. My cautions weren't strong enough as a man was thrown into the window, knocking me down and causing the sharps glass to pierce into my skin.

I pushed him off me, scared to know if he was dead. When I stood up, I noticed a figure standing in the room with me. I stared at the creature. His eyes were shimmering gold, but as fierce as a hawk. He had a metal silver thing swinging behind him as it was connected to the lower part of its back, and he looked hungry - thirsty for blood.

He did not attack me, but only examined. My heart felt as if it were to explode with fear. My body was going to shut down any minute. This creature did not look human, of course nothing man-made either. This could not have been an experiment a scientist was working on; could it?

The creature crouched down like a cat, as if to catch his prey. This warning was a sign that I should run, but my body would not move. I instantly knew, that today I were to die. At least, that's what I though until he vanished.
