Chapter 5-The Truth
I awoke to see Kybe’s face close to mine, just inches away. With a reactant jolt, I backed away, until remembering that he was not like the other monsters. Looking around, I took in my surroundings. The fire had died down during the middle of the night and the sun radiated heat into the air, making it muggy. It was a wonderful feeling to have when waking up, but I knew we couldn’t stay long in this forest.
“Kybe, wake up.” I said, lightly touching his hand that was placed in front of him. It clenched before his eyes opened to look into mine. They were full of life and energy. I was use to seeing his kind have eyes full of hunger and anger.
“Morning,” he said, sitting up and yawning as widely as he could. I stood and began to stretch my legs. He watched me, tilting his head in curiosity of what I was doing. His kind was built so that they wouldn’t have to worry about their joints locking up or having to feel loose. Lucky bastards.
“C’mon, we have to go.” I said.
“About last night,” he began to say, but when he stood, we stared at each other in awkward silence. “What was that man trying to do anyways?” he asked. I laughed hard, feeling a blush grow on my face. I had no clue how his kind ‘mated’, but he was obviously just as clueless with humans.
“Let’s just say that he was doing something that he was trying force. For humans, it is what we call ‘pleasure’, but if it is forced, then its something very bad. Its what you would consider mating if you think about it.” I explained. He straightened his back with his face glowing a little red.
“I-I see, so then he was trying to have his way with you.”
“Exactly,”
“Are all human males like that?”
We began to walk as he tried to learn about humans. It was amazing with how long he has been here and he acts as if he just came to earth just a few days ago.
“Not all of them, but most of them.” I answered. After that, it became silent. He walking behind me, but very close as to not lose sight of me. I didn’t know where we were going, but it almost felt like I was the one following Kybe than me following him.
“This land-Earth, it’s very large and dry.” he suddenly said after an hour or so. I agreed, speaking for my part.
“Since your kind came to Earth, it has caused the earth’s axis to tilt a certain way, but it also pushed us closer to the sun as well. I’m not exactly sure why, since I’m not a scientist, but that is the only explanation I can come up with. You know, I was wondering, why did your kind come to earth anyways?” I asked. He stopped in place and looked down. When I stopped, he sighed and spoke.
“All I know is that our God told us to come here and take over. He said that the humans were getting too out of control and too smart for us to handle anymore, and we had to wipe most of them out.”
“Wait, ‘getting too hard to handle anymore’? What does your ‘God’ mean by that?”
“It was said that thousands of years ago, when our planet had exceeded in our experimenting to try to make a living creation, we were the first to make a living being. We had trained it to speak and to do other things, like think and eat. It was a failed experiment though, or so we had thought, and we shipped it off to this planet. We continued to make the same creature, but with all of the failures that had happened, we just ended up throwing them away and dumping them here. Before we knew it, they began to populate and mimic us in experimenting and inventing.”
“So, are you saying that your kind created humans?” I asked. This story he was telling made chills run up to spine, making me want to hear more.
“Yes, and since the years have passed after we had discovered the humans were populating, our elder’s took the opportunity to study them from our home and watch what they did and how they acted. Our elder’s now were the ones who told us what our God said, and with me and the others that are here, we are simple military men. We go by the order’s of our elder’s and God.” Kybe began to walk again, passing me. I followed him, wanting him to continue with his story. “I don’t know much else though; only the stories that my parent’s have told me.”
“Wow, I never would have thought.” I said, feeling flabbergasted by the situation. It had made perfect sense though, of how we came to be and why we are like we are now. To Kybe, I am just like a guinea pig; but because of the over-populating and our experimentation, we are to be killed. “Then tell me, if your mission is to kill us, then why are you keeping me alive?”
He stopped again, and turned to look at me. “Because it is my mission to keep the first human I make contact with alive.” My eyes grew wide, and yet, I couldn’t speak, even with all of the questions that filled my head. Unfortunately, we continued on, in silence once again. When dawn came, so did an explosion. In the distance, a large group of monster’s swarmed a large power-plant as it grew in flames. We stayed hidden in the bushes, but they had recognized one of our scent’s, and turned to face us.
