Making a fool out of myself

Y/N's POV:

It seems like I'll never get to my destination in time,good heavens why does this place have to be one hell of a maze,
I'm still trying to find my way locating my new office in this new job of mine and I swear to God I feel like I've been walking around for hours and the employees confused stares only made me anxious more than I already am right now

Oh well who wouldn't look at me with a weird face if I'm literally running thru the hallways like a mad woman with disheveled hair, thanks to the windy weather today New York,half tucked shirt with three open buttons,I can't even remember if my slacks is zipped up

Let's just hope that Mr.Stark would be kind enough to not fire me on my first day

Yes,Tony Stark the famous genius, billionaire,playboy,philanthropist.

How did a basic ass New Yorker like me got involved with him you ask?

Well, that's a conversation we'll have later my priority right now is to find my goddamn office.

As I took a sharp turn to my right hoping it's the right way and that I'll finally be where I am supposed to be I felt a body collide with mine causing my glasses to fly off my face

"Oh great, absolutely fantastic"
I muttered to myself as I crouched down to find my glasses.

"Who in their right mind would be running thru the halls early in the morning"I heard the figure say with such tone you'll wish the ground would open up and take you.

As soon as I felt the frame of my glasses touch my hand I picked it up and stand up ready to apologize but as soon as I put my glasses on the person is already gone.

I observe my surroundings trying to make out where I am but all I see is doors and a glass window,there I saw how awful I look so I tried to fix my appearance as best as I could while doing so I heard a familiar voice calling me out from the distance "Y/n!! What are you doing?" Mr.Stark asked as he makes he's way to me looking at me as if he's gonna laugh,and he's wearing pj's???

"Uh hi?"I said confused as to why he's asking me such question,what else would I be doing here?

And with that Tony really did burst out laughing"Do...you...even know...what time is it"he tried to utter out while still in a fit of laughter "Uh yeah it's time for me to work and I'm awfully late" I said rather quickly, irritated and confused as to why he's a laughing mess

"Come on Y/n join me for breakfast" he put his arm around my shoulder and dragged me to the kitchen where the other avengers are while I was scanning the room with awe Tony tapped my shoulder while his other hand is pointing upwards" Look Y/n it's barely 8am, your work starts not until 10"I followed where he's pointing at and there reads the clock '7:49 am'

"Well shit,I just made a fool of myself on my first day of work"

hiding my face in my hands in embarrassment I heard Tony snickered beside me,then pats my back and made his way farther into the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee.

"You must be Y/n, I'm Steve it's nice to finally meet you"
Finally? What does he mean,does Tony talk about me with them?

"He speaks very highly of you, I'm starting to think you're not real as Tony never speaks so high of someone,aside from himself"

I turned around to see a rather very beautiful red head woman with deep green eyes standing behind me

"I think you're beautiful too, I'm Wanda by the way, pleasure to meet you" Oh yeah great how could I forgot,she can read minds,well I wasn't aware that she was right behind me.

She noticed I felt uneasy with her reading my mind without my consent so she speaks again"sorry, it's just a force of habit I promise I won't do it again"I just smiled at her still nervous about her reading my mind.

Before I can even respond another voice spoke up " I am Thor of Asgard--" I cut him off by saying "I know who you are sir no need to give a full speech " extending my hand to shake with his I heard Wanda suppressed a laugh but a giggle still came out which made me smile to myself,maybe this day isn't so bad at all.

A few introductions more and I finally met all of the avengers,or so I thought,now sitting with them at the dining table having a casual conversation about anything
"So Y/n what are you doing here?" Clint spoke up, straight to the point,nice...I thought to myself as I tried to gather my thoughts but before I can even speak up Tony already beat me to it

"Well Y/n here will be working with me,she has a very special skill set that will definitely help me around the lab" I smiled at him in gratitude,a content hum was heard from Clint signifying that he was pleased with Tony's answer,

a comfortable silence fell as everyone got back to eating even me cause I didn't ate before I left my apartment as I was in a rush,

the silence was cut short when a woman entered the room her stare fell to me instantly since I was sitting near the entrance and by the look on her face it seems like she woke up on the wrong side of bed,

a collective greetings took the woman's attention from me then she walked around to sit next to Wanda who was sitting across from me

ever since this mysterious woman sat down she didn't bother to tear her gaze away from me as if she's reading every move I make which makes me really uncomfortable so I just kept my head down and focused on my plate,

Wanda on the other hand seemed to feel the tension "Nat this is Y/n,Tony's new assistant" she gestured to me

"Hi.." is all I could muster cause she's still staring at me with a blank expression"Nat be nice she's a friend" Tony jokingly said as he watched the awkward interaction unfolding and earning a chuckle from the group tho I wasn't really that amused,this woman scares the shit out of me,I didn't even do anything yet and it looks like she already wanna strangle me. "I'm Natasha, nice to meet you" oh so she does speak,I thought she's just gonna stare at me til I magically disappear or something

"The pleasure is all mine Ms.Romanoff"finally something decent came out of my mouth, I'm so done with making a fool of myself here,I looked at the clock to check the time and it's now time for me to actually go to work,Tony also looked at the clock and realized what I was thinking and he excused us from the group,

I bid my farewells and followed Tony into the never ending maze like halls,when we reached the office or lab as he like to call it,I was in utter shock as to how spacious yet packed this lab is

"I take that as you like it here already"proud grin spread across his face

"are you kidding me? Tony this is my own kind of candy land"I walked further into the lab carefully inspecting and taking in everything

as I was delved up in my own little world I heard Tony saying "sorry to cut your little adventure but I need your help now Y/n" I looked up at him and smiled"Well let's get to work then."
