"Y/N, COME BACK HERE," you run into your bedroom and slam the door behind you. Tears threatening to fall down your cheek.

"Y/N, you can't just say it's over and give no explanation," Loki shouts from the other side of the door.

"Loki-" you cut yourself off, your voice trembling.

"Y/N, answer me," he roars, taken over by anger.

"It's for your own good, now go," you shout back.

"Y/N, if this is because of-" his voice softens, and you sense him leaning on the door.

"Of course it's because of that Loki, it always will be. I put you in too much danger,"

"Well I do too, but you don't see me running away," he scoffs, his voice growing louder again.

"Precisely, we are both a danger to each other. I'm doing this-"

"Don't say it," he snarls angrily, and you sigh.

"To protect you."

"Damn it Y/N," you hear him mutter as he walks away. You cry silently, not wanting him to hear you wail.

'To protect him. You're doing this to protect him' you reassure yourself. He will get over it easily, that doesn't mean you will though.

It's been a week, but here you are sitting on the floor of shower, crying. Actually crying. You don't cry, you never do. But in the short amount of time Loki has been here, it's happened a lot more often than usual. Maybe it was the watching the life drain out of him slowly, or maybe it was just the breaking up with him. Gods you need to get a grip Y/N.

You stand up and put your towel on, heading to your room immediately, and locking your new latch. Apparently Loki has been fine, going about normally, just like you knew he would be. You haven't seen him since you ended things, both clearly avoiding the other. It makes it easier in a way, you can act like it didn't happen and go on with your lives.

You can't avoid each other for much longer though, because the team has to have a meeting with Fury regarding the current state of the Exonerators, which is basically non-existent now.

As you step out of of your bedroom door, you walk swiftly and quietly to the elevator. Unfortunately for you, you hear the door at the other side of the corridor open. Great.

You walk into the lift, Loki following you in. He couldn't have just taken the stairs could he.

"Y/N," he greets you monotonously, his eyes fixated straight ahead of him.

"Loki," you reply, also refusing, or just unable to look at him. It's not like you had even been dating that long, so why is this so much more awful than it should be. Just breathe.
