«There you are,» Suna's voice echoed behind me.
His hands encircled my hips and drew me closer to his body.
I looked around frantically, searching for my brothers.
«Don't worry, there's no one watching us,» Suna reassured me, placing a kiss on my shoulder.
I turned around so that I could see his face. «What are you doing?» I asked.
«I'm dancing with you. You know, it was depressing to see you here, in the middle of a crowd, dancing all alone.»
I rolled my eyes. «I was doing great, though.»
«But you do better with me.»
I bit my tongue not knowing what to reply, which made a satisfied smirk appear on Suna's face.
«How about we go somewhere more private?» he said, moving closer to my ear to be heard over the music.
«Why? The girl you were hitting on earlier didn't accept when you proposed it to her?»
Suna raised an eyebrow. «Nah, I didn't ask her. But I think she would have gone anywhere with me.»
«Then go find her. Why waste an opportunity like that?» I said dismissively.
His smile got even bigger. «Are you being jealous, [Y/n]-chan?»
I huffed, flicking him off and leaving the crowded room.
Of course, Suna followed me.
«No way. You're jealous because I simply talked to a girl?» he teased.
«I'm not jealous.»
«You're not?»
«Not at all.»
«You seem to be, tho.»
«You obviously don't know me that well.» But he does, my conscience contradicted me.
«Well, it's not her I want anyway.»
I shrugged, as if to say I didn't care. Obviously that wasn't true. Those words had more effect on me than I intended.
«Why don't you stop sulking and come with me now?» The brunet said, grabbing my arm and making me stop.
I jerked out of his grip. «I don't want to.»
«I have something to show you.»
I gave a sarcastic laugh. «I can already guess what it is.»
«You can't. What you think, I'll save that for later.»
I looked at Suna, suspicious. He winked at me.
I huffed and held out my hand to him. Suna wasted no time in grabbing it and dragging me with him through the house. We climbed the stairs and slipped into an empty room.
«Look,» he said, opening a window to the ceiling and placing a chair underneath.
He had me go up first and then he followed. We were on the roof of the house.
«See?» he asked, pointing to the sky. «There's less artificial lighting here, so you can see the stars better than at your house.»
It was true. I wondered how I hadn't noticed it before.
«Now look at me,» Suna ordered, and he didn't have to ask twice. «I know you think I'm just a playboy who thinks solely of fucking, but I'm not.»
I sighed. «I don't think that's all you are. And anyway, I don't care.»
«Will you ever stop lying? We both know that's not true.»
I was about to retort, but Suna shushed me by placing a hand on my mouth. «Let me speak. It's pretty obvious that our relationship has evolved lately, and not just in the physical sphere. I like how you are with me, how we joke and tease each other, but now you don't have to try so hard in convincing me that you don't care about me, because I know that's not true.»
I motioned his hand away. «So what? Are you going to tease me about it?»
Suna laughed. «No. I care about you, too, and I'm not afraid to tell you.»
I fell silent. Suna knew full well what he was doing; he'd prepared for it. He had never said out loud that he cared about me, even though he had made it clear to me in so many ways. What he had just told me was what I needed to relax and allow myself to be honest. I still wasn't ready to face all of my feelings, but being able to stop pretending that I didn't care about him was a huge relief.
I looked away from him. I brought my knees to my chest, encircling them with my arms and leaning into them. «I was jealous,» I admitted.
«I know,» Suna replied and I could practically hear an annoyed smirk in his voice.
«But I have no reason to be.»
«Hmm... "Reason" isn't the right word.»
I thought about that for a moment. «I have no right to be,» I corrected myself.
Suna laughed softly. «I'm jealous when you go to other people, too.»
I didn't know how to respond. What exactly were we trying to say to each other?
«You can relax though,» Suna said. He came closer to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. «You're the only one I look at the stars with.»
I finally looked up at him. With the background of the starry sky and the dim moonlight shining on his face, he looked even more handsome than usual. His sly smile was accompanied by his tired eyes, but which, for once, didn't seem so empty.
I leaned towards him to steal a kiss, because it was the only thing I felt was right to do at that moment. Maybe I could've told him that he was the only guy I wanted to watch them with - the stars, or some shit like that. Instead, I pulled away from his lips and, with a smile all too similar to his, whispered. «I can't wait for you to fall in love with me so I can call you a loser.»
Suna laughed and rolled his eyes. «I can never let my guard down with you.» But he was lying, and we both knew it.Hi!
I look forward to your comments that make me laugh and feel happy every time. That's all I'm saying.
Until the next chapter! <3
