"guys, I'm so bored. let's do something." Haven whined after the movie had finished and everyone was sitting there on their phones.
"I'm down," Michael agreed, sitting up and stretching obnoxiously on Haven. she groaned and pushed him away, making him fall off the couch.
"ouch," Michael complained, rubbing his butt with a hurt expression. Haven merely rolled her eyes.
"come on," she pleaded with her friends.
"alright, alright. I'm coming." Luke said, standing up as he locked his phone and put it in his back pocket. "come on, Ash."
Ashton tried to get out of the large bean bag, but it was as if he was stuck. a giggle escaped his chapped lips. "it's all suction-y!"
Calum sighed and got up from his position on the floor to help Luke pull Ashton out of the bean bag, which ended up with Ashton lying on top of Calum on the ground.
another giggle from Ashton. "aye baby, wanna have some fun?"
Calum rolled his eyes and pushed the older, yet shorter, boy off of him. he stood once more, this time grabbing Abby and pulling her along with him.
"Sarah, Juliet, come on!" Haven insisted, and with lots of mumbled protests and groans, the two girls followed.
"what are we even gonna do?" Sarah asked, shuffling along slowly behind the group as they went outside into the warm night air.
"seriously, Have. Its like, 2:30 in the morning." Luke added, checking the time on his phone.
"I actually didn't think that far ahead. I just didn't wanna sit there all night. can we just walk?" Haven suggested, causing the rest of the group to shrug their shoulders.
Juliet, who had been quietly walking alongside Michael and Calum, suddenly spoke up. "why don't we go check out that abandoned fun house?"
"what? no way," Luke said, shaking his head vigorously. he had never told anyone, but Luke was deathly afraid of clowns, and fun houses were filled with them.
"oh, come on! we don't have to go in. I just want to see it up close." Juliet pressed. she had always loved the idea of adventure, and fun houses just screamed the word.
"it'll be fun," Haven added.
"fine," Luke relented, pressured by the stares of the rest of the group. the place was abandoned anyway, there won't be clowns there.
"yes! thanks Lukey. lets go, it's just down the road from the Rockwell Mansion," Juliet informed them.
"why is there a random fun house down here, anyway?" Sarah asked.
"well, I've heard that Mr. Rockwell had it built for the kids here, but it didn't make as much money as he hoped, so they had to shut it down." Calum said, shrugging his shoulders. his mom worked for the county board, so he knew most of what went on in the town.
"well," Juliet spoke up, her eyes glinting with mischief, "I've heard... other things."
"like, uh, like what?" Abby questioned, trying to stop the worry from showing on her features. Abby didn't really like scary things, she was more of a poet than anything else.
"like the fact that it's haunted," Ash spoke up. Ash didn't mind scary things very much, when they didn't effect him. he was okay with looking at the fun house, but he made up his mind that he was not going in.
"haunted?" Luke repeated, trying to hide the fear on his features.
"yeah, the old legend goes like this." Juliet announced, her voice going softer so the others subconsciously moved in closer to her as they walked down the road.
