Chapter Twenty

As months passed, both Lycidas and I got the nursery ready. He picked the bedroom right next to his and started the room early, as everyone became excited about the new arrival coming soon. My parent accepted Lycidas into the family as Jason became the overprotective brother I didn't need. Alexis and Stefan arranged a baby shower today with the help of the pack members. Bret ensured every detail was perfect as he raised his voice, yelling orders.

I wore a flowing blue dress with a sweater, and Lycidas wore pants and a regular pink T-shirt. Everyone came in blue or pink, as they both were convinced of our child's gender. Tables stood around, lined with food and drinks. I smiled as I rubbed my tummy with excitement as I watched. As Lycidas stood by Bret, telling him to calm down, I felt water drip down my legs. I gasped, feeling pain shoot through my sides, telling me my water had broken. Everyone was too busy to notice as I stood waving my hands, words not forming my lips. A little girl ran toward me, giggling, and pointed at me.

"You just peed your pants, Luna!" Her tiny voice echoed through the room as eyes looked at me in different directions. I knelt, squeezing my eyes as pain coursed through again.

"Lycidas!" I screamed. Hands started to help me up from the ground as I looked to see who it was. Stefan smiled down at me as I panicked for someone to take me seriously.

"Lycidas, get over here!" Stefan yelled across the room. Lycidas ran toward us with concern, seeing me.

"My water broke!" I yelled at him. "Help me! This is your fault!" I pointed my finger at him as he looked around, terrified. He mind linked the pack doctor as he picked me up, carrying me away from my baby shower. Alexis, Bret, and Stefan were in tow as he laid me on the bed in the hospital. I looked around to see my parents and brother standing with Alexis and Bret as Lycidas yelled for Doctor Pride.

After pushing for six hours, the baby arrived. As I sighed from exhaustion, the nurses gathered around the baby, cleaning and having Lycidas cut the cord.

"It's a boy!" he screamed with excitement. The baby boy waled again at Lycidas's sudden loudness. After the nurses gave the baby to Lycidas, they ran toward me, making sure I looked presentable for visitors.

Brown hair and blue eyes stared back at me as Lycidas handed me the bundle of joy I once held inside me. He looked exactly like his father.

"You did it, baby!" Lycidas said as he knelt, pushing my hair aside from my face.

Tears pricked my eyes as I looked at my son. At that moment, I knew we would have the perfect family.

"What would you want to name him?" Doctor Pride asked, and we stared at the baby as he slept in my arms.

"Cain Viscardo." The words escaped my lips as Lycidas smiled, agreeing with the name.
