Chapter Fourteen

Walking around the ballroom, I saw new people in elegant dresses and tuxedos. Everyone was dressed to impress. Alexis had me wear a long, flowing red dress.

My blonde hair flowed past my shoulders, and my makeup was perfect. Alexis wore a similar dress but blue. We stood underneath the chandelier and chatted with Stefan and Bret, waiting for Lycidas. Suddenly, he appeared on stage standing in front of the microphone: black messy hair, steel grey eyes with the perfect jawline, and a black suit—just like the moment I finally saw what he looked like. My wolf purred, seeing her standing before ushering us toward him.

"Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is the Christmas Ball. Everyone gathered here today can enjoy the food and wine. The guests can dance and enjoy the music. I also called everyone here today to introduce my mate and your Luna. Luna Olivia!" I appeared next to him as he said my name. Everyone looked up with hopefulness and pride and cheered happily. I smiled and waved. Lycidas took my hand and pulled me to the dance floor as a pianist played "Baby, it's Cold Outside" beautifully.

"I'm so thankful to have you here. Enjoying this dance with you, Liv. I love this moment with you, and I'll cherish it forever." I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"I'll do the same." As the song ended, an alpha needed Lycidas' attention, so I hurried toward the bathroom outside the ballroom down the hall. As I entered the room, I saw Annabelle looking at herself in the mirror, fixing her hair.

"Hello!" I said politely. She looked at me, revolted, as I felt a pinch in my neck. I looked at her hand, noticing a needle. My eyes fluttered closed, too stunned to do anything.

I opened my eyes, adjusting to the darkness, and noticed only one light in the hallway. As my blurry vision became more evident, I noticed I was in a dirty cell, and the light was from a hanging bulb outside the cell. My back lay against the wall as my legs sprawled across the concrete ground. The blonde hair that once flowed past my shoulders was now matted in the name of my neck, and a cloth sack covered my body instead of the beautiful red dress. Dirt, blood, and bruises covered my once-glowing skin. Memories rushed through my mind as I remembered that Annabelle poisoned me and kidnapped me.

"Well, look who's awake now," Anne said with a snarky attitude. A tall, blonde man stood next to her. As I looked closer, I saw Garrison's beta, Oliver.

"What did you do?"

"I kidnapped you. Oliver wanted revenge for what you did to his Alpha and Luna. I want revenge for you taking my mate's attention from me. Jay doesn't want you in his life anymore. And neither do I." I shook my head for the petty revenge they had on me.

"It's pathetic, honestly. Why take me just for revenge? What does that prove to anyone?" I pointed out. Annabelle and Oliver were both dumb. Annabelle pulled a knife and softly rubbed her finger against the sharp side. Oliver opened the cell door and held me against the wall.

"We want to know how to end Lycidas's life once and for all. He took something from our Alpha. You're the only one besides him who would know where it is." I stared at them, confused.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Anne shoves the knife into my leg and screams escape my lips. Oliver shoves me on the ground as the knife is still in my leg. Oliver lifts my wrists and attached the silver cuffs to each one, chaining me to the wall. Anne took the knife out of my leg and evilly laughed. Excruciating pain went down my leg from the wound as screams left my lips again.

"We will see about that," Anne says right before she and Oliver leave the cell, closing it behind them. I could feel blood escaping the wound from my leg, and I couldn't take the pain. I sighed as one last scream left my lips. My eyes closed, and I fell into darkness.
