Chapter 9

"Hey, (Y/N), ️Karkat, and Dave!" John made a funny face.
"Hello," Rose looked up and smiled.
"Hi!!!" Jade jumped up, holding a white puppy in her arms.
"Hi," you smiled, and Dave waved and seemed like he didn't care. ️Karkat just huffed.
"So, what do you guys have planned?" You looked at them.
"Uh..," they all blinked up at me. "We didn't plan anything."
"Okay.. Why don't we just go for a walk and talk to each other?" Rose suggested.
"Sure," You agreed, everyone else was ok with it and we all got up.
We started to walk, but the feeling in your stomach about your brother's return didn't leave.
Why could you not have ONE good day!
John started enthusiastically talking about some Nic Cage movie, and Jade seemed pretty happy too. They get along really well for siblings. Dave and Rose were talking about how their families were going.
Kar and you were the only ones not engaged in conversation.
"Soo... Anyone else around here that's friendly?" You asked.
"A few people at school, that's who I hang out with at school," he growled.
"Gosh, I won't talk to you then!" You looked to the side.
"(Y/N)--" he sighed, giving up.
You snapped at him on accident. You've been really stressed and.. He'll probably forgive you.
You flipped your phone open. More texts from your brother.
Him: (Y/N)! I'm closer! I can't wait to finish!
Him: (Y/N)!!! This train I hopped on is going pretty fast. I didn't even have to pay!
Him: (Y/N), are you excited?

You shut your eyes. 'Give me patience for this.'
You replied.

You: I'm most definitely NOT excited!!! Leave me alone!!
Him: Oh, we're playing hide and seek again, I guess!! Okee dokee!
You: No! We're playing leave (Y/N) alone!!
Him: No fun! I like hide and seek more.

You stopped walking and furiously texted back, getting glances from everyone, but you didn't notice.

You: WE ARE NOT. ARE NOT. CONTINUING WHAT YOU STARTED. I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WANT JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!
Him: ): oh you've made me mad now.. I'll give you a bit to hide, (Y/N)..

You stifled a shriek and shoved your phone in your pocket, shutting your eyes, and you started to count.

someone said something to you. You pretended to not hear.

You shut your eyes tighter.

Nothing.

You couldn't count anymore.
You let yourself fall to the ground and pulled your hood up and hid your face in the warm sweater.
"(Y/N)?!" Jade.
"Give her space," Rose's calm voice.
"Maybe she's not feeling well!" John.
"She's obviously not ok, idiots!" ️Karkat.
Dave said nothing. You felt someone hug you. Then another person. Soon everyone was hugging you.
"He's.. He's.." You managed to choke out. You couldn't say anymore.
( A/N: Reader has had so much stress that she can't speak. Whoops )
"What..?" Everyone stopped hugging you.
You opened your mouth but it was silent. How could you explain...?
"I think she's lost her voice," someone pointed out. You didn't want to know who.
"She's just scared because she forgot to hide..," a cool voice from the trees said.
You looked up. There was your brother.
