Chapter 10

You looked at your brother.
"I'm not playing," you said, trying to hide the fear in your voice.
"Oh, ok.. I'm giving you 1 minute to hide. If you're not hidden..," he chuckled. "You get the same fate that happens if I find you."
"Ok! Slow counts?"
"Slow counts."
"Dave count for him."
"Ok," Dave waited until you took off running to start.
Dave counted exceptionally slow.
You stumbled over things in the woods, getting as far as possible. Before you ran, Rose handed you a pocket knife. You didn't want to know why she had one, you just ran, making sure you left no tracks.
You silenced your phone and jammed it back into your pocket as you ran. You didn't need surprise texts giving your position away.
You just kept running. That's what you'd do.
**DAVE'S POV**
"60," I said it outloud. I deliberately took longer than I normally would.
He grinned wildly and ran off.
"Why'd they let him go, he's mad!!" Jade squeaked.
Suddenly ️Karkat broke into a run after him.
Two boys, alone with (Y/N) in the woods.. One of them half insane. I ran after them. No one would hurt my (Y/N).
( *dave fangirls squee* )
**KARKAT'S POV**
I ran after the jerk who was gonna hurt (Y/N).
He wanted to kill her, probably something about her parents.
"(Y/N)~! You can't hide forever!" He said as he ran.
I huffed in anger. He was really, really dumb.
I just kept running. Nothing else mattered more at that moment other than (Y/N)'s safety.
**YOUR POV**
You hid in a bush, unable to keep running. The bush was against a tree so you could lean against it.
You heard Gabe call for you in a sing-song voice," (Y/N)~! You can't hide forever!"
You started to panic. Last time someone, the police, would save you. This time no one knew where you were. You started hyperventilating, backing further against the tree and shaking uncontrollably.
"Ah! Sister! There you are!" He pulled you from the bush.
You yelped in pain, he grabbed your hair again. He held the knife up once more. You started to panic more.
"Aren't you excited?" He giggled. "This game has been fun and I finally found you again, I finally--!" Someone tackled him off of you. You dropped to the ground and went up against a tree, shutting your eyes, still panicking. You heard a crack. Oh no, he killed the person trying to save you.. He.. He..
Someone grabbed your shoulder.
"Let me go!! Let me go!!" You shrieked, trying to pull away, and you couldn't get a clear view of who it was.
"Agh! (Y/N)! Calm down!" ️Karkat..
"We.. We're gonna die..!" You tried to push him away.
"Woah, (Y/N), no ones gonna die," someone hugged you. Dave.
"Yes..! Yes we are..! He's gonna..! He's gonna..," you sobbed, you only then realized that you were crying.
Dave hugged you tighter," Sh.."
️Karkat hugged you as well.
You felt protected by these two people.
