And Then The Giants Came Knocking

Weekends didn't feel as exciting as they used to anymore, but this one in particular had me nervous.

"Mikey's here!" Rylan screamed from downstairs and I'm sure a few birds on the trees outside left their perches.

I invited him over out of guilt, not that he wouldn't barge in anyway if I hadn't.

Being the type of friends that we were, didn't just blow itself away like a summer breeze no matter how strong the wind. And it was high time I stopped acting like a bitch to him—to them. Mike cared a lot and I could tell he was getting a little pissed off because of how I was treating everyone. Although he was the type that didn't get angry easily. Or offended for that matter.

When we were younger, he'd get picked on for being a tiny kid, and never once did I see him take it personal. I, on the other hand, did.

No one even guessed how big he was going to get. I still don't believe it. And if you ever saw his pictures as a child, you'd know exactly what I was talking about.

I wasn't sure yet, how to answer when or if he questioned me directly about my behavior.

The moment I turned to go and meet him, Mike sort of just invaded my room. He had his arms wide open and the biggest grin on his face. I just stared at him as if to warn him to drop them.

In truth, I wasn't that big of a hugger. The only exceptions were the twins. And Stacey...because she was capable of climbing you if you didn't comply. Liam and I; no hugs there. Kit; never. Not until his tongue was somewhere in my mouth and I attempted to hold him. With Connor, you'd realize you were hugging him after it's done, so its futile. Amber-Lee, almost never. Knox; huh, let's just not go there. Honestly, I think he would puke if I gave him a hug.

I never hugged Mike either, and yet here he was, clowning around in my room. "Bro you better get your ass here," he said and kept coming.

I finally decided that I didn't want to be mushed into the mattress because I knew he'd do that. I got up and went to hug him, keeping it light and short. Mike wasn't thinking along those lines...he threatened to squeeze the life out of me with his big frame. I had a big frame, and a strong one at that, but Mike was a giant. Fine, giant would be overstretching it but he was a big guy, and he didn't let you forget it.

Mike looked friendly too, and some girls tried to take advantage of that. And they might have succeeded if he wasn't already so whipped for Stacey.

At first, whenever he was around her, he acted all cool and cringe...she didn't notice.

               Or she did, who knows.
