"Fun, we got the the leftover hostage mission", Yeji remarked bitterly
"You know, boss might just want us to take it easy for a bit. We were in London for a long time", Lia told her

"Yeah no shit. Can't believe we were a week late at finishing that assignment", Yeji shook her head as she continued to pack some more clothes into her suitcase
"And you're pissed about it because?", Lia trailed off

"If we finished earlier, we could have gotten the rogue scientist case in Japan. But instead it went to LHR", Yeji said snarkily
"I heard it's a very high risk mission like an amber red task. They're an older team with more experience. That's most likely why boss decided to not assign it to us", Lia tried to reason with her friend

"Okay fine but I don't get it. It's a group with 23 members, how could 18 of them get captured? It makes no sense and why were all of them on the case anyway", Yeji scoffed
"Boss says it's a hefty pay and it helps with her connections so we shouldn't really care about the reason", Lia shrugged

"The leftover members better not be idiots, we need people who can comply", Yeji huffed as she shut her suitcase
"I agree, Chaeryeong is usually the brains of our group but since she's dating now", Lia zipped up her carrier bag

"I heard my name", Chaeryeong popped out of nowhere
"Bionic ears, I tell you", Lia muttered

"Okay well the Munchies tell us everything about the mission", Yuna leaned back against her chair

Itzy and txt had regrouped and took off in Somi's private jet again. Chaeryeong had already put the plane into autopilot and Ryujin had accessed Munchies - Somi's personal AI system.

"It's a mafia hostage mission", Munchies started
"Oh of course it is!", Beomgyu threw up his hands

"If I may continue. The mafia group's name is Honey Jack, the leader goes by the name Hornet", Munchies started
"Very original", Huening Kai interrupted, in a sarcastic tone

"And the team of agents' you're all retreiving is NCT. They work in sub-units. It's a complicated structure and explanation so I've been instructed to skip over it. Anywho, 2 of the members work in 2 sub-units. They happened to be in the one who was on the scene. There are 3 main ones: Dream, 127 and WayV. With another additonal 2 members who have yet to be placed in one. So Dream originally had 7 members, their sub-unit is usually tasked as surveillance, mostly a far distance from the task ground. They also dealt with rescue missions and causalities. But this mission required as much members as they could spare on the scene which left only 5 of the members - stationed away from the scene. Well things obviously didn't go as planned. But this task was labelled as a purple code", Munchies continued

"Purple?!", Yeonjun exclaimed
"A mafia assignment is a purple code?", Soobin reconfirmed

"Yes, you clearly heard me", Munchies told him
"Won't be such a boring mission after all", Lia said to Yeji
A grin spread across Yeji's face as she nodded, "I'm kind of excited"

"This mafia group is especially dangerous. And when your bosses say dangerous they mean dangerous - you could actually die. All the other teams of agents under the company that NCT is under are on their own covert missions. And only going in as 5 is basically a 99% fail. So they asked for backup. That's where you come in. Extra details will be sent to your accounts. Along with the address, time and codename when meeting with the 5 members. I'm not sure what this is about but from the data I have collected - Honey Jack is terrifying. No one has ever attacked their base. NCT only had to because the mafias stole something they were experimenting on. Your bosses are very worried so please do stay safe. Don't die", Munchies said and signed off

"Did your boss give her an upgrade? I swear to god she sounds more human-like", Taehyun commented
"I got no idea but if the AI says that THE Lee IU and Jeon Somi are worried then we should definitely be cautious", Chaeryeong added

"Okay if you want to give each other heart eyes please do so in the cockpit", Yuna said
"Sucks, you just don't have a boyfriend", Chaeryeong shot back

"I don't even want one! Now shove off", Yuna pushed Chaeryeong
"Kids these days", Taehyun said

"What did you say?!", Yuna exclaimed as she stood up indignantly
"Woah there, let's not fight today. How does that sound?", Huening Kai got up and pulled Yuna away from the couple

"Okay what part of the wild wild west are we in?", Beomgyu questioned as he looked out of the car
"We're in Texas buddy. What do you expect? It's a mafia gang, they'll definitely want to build their base in the middle of the fucking desert", Ryujin said sarcastically

"Is that a literal horse?", Yeonjun exclaimed as he spotted a proud creature in the middle of a street
"Yup, pretty much looks like it", Soobin said dryly

"Well isn't this fun? We're basically the rescue mission for a purple code mission. Which means at least 2 of us might die. And we're in a barren town. Woohoo!", Lia exclaimed
"Pessimistic as always. But I mean she's right. If a mafia mission is labelled as a purple code then we better be on our highest alert. I won't even suprised if most of this town is owned and run by the mafia gang", Yeji added

"We can't be distracted by anything", Yeonjun agreed as he pointedly stared at Chaeryeong and Taehyun
"What?", Taehyun asked in offense

"I hate working with other groups but this is unavoidable. We can't go in with only 5, if only one of the hyungs weren't on missions", a male said as he strapped a gun to his holster
"I wouldn't even mind if we worked with one of the female groups", another male voice added as he shoved a few sharp objects into the nooks and crannies of his clothes

"How does boss even trust this group?", the third of them asked while he pulled on his gloves
"I don't know, maybe they owe something. Or they're actually really trustworthy", yet another one said
"I'm betting on the earlier but I guess we'll be the judges of that", the last of them said as he set about the medic station in the darkly-lit room

Author's note: New mission? Purple code is basically like SUPER dangerous. The highest level risk. But anyway any nct fans here? I couldn't resist adding them into the book too. This may or may not contribute to the storyline. And lots of apologies for not updating in like so so so long. I've been busy with school and I've been taking as much free time as I can to just rest.
