"Ada, h-how–"

"Hush beloved, there will be plenty of time for talking later. Let's get Lady Beneviento somewhere safe where we can look at that nasty wound on her back."

Laika was out of words.

Ada Wong, who she thought she would never see again, was now standing in front of her with an amused smile spread across her plump lips.

Laika met the pretty woman a couple of years ago, when Ada first came to the village claiming she was doing research on the way people there lived and served their goddess.

'Such an interesting culture and religion', Ada once said.

It seemed true, considering the fact there weren't any other Asian-American women around the little Romanian village therefore the alter motives were highly unlikely, so Laika didn't think much of it and decided to get to know Ada better instead of being weary and distant.

They spent most of the time in a house Ada rented or the village's inn, but their favorite thing to do when both women weren't busy with work, was taking walks through the forest, where the two of them learned about and got to know each other.

Throughout the following year their relationship evolved into a romantic one, once Laika realized that for the first time in her life she might actually feel more than just physical attraction towards a woman.

She's been sleeping with maidens around the village, but none of them made her heart beat as fast as Ada. She showed her for the first time, what it meant to fully give yourself to somebody and love them unconditionally.

Mother Miranda also liked Ada, claiming that her daughter chose well and that the Asian girl was a rather fitting match for Laika. Her future seemed so bright and happy, that the young maid couldn't believe how lucky she was to have it all.

That same future however, crumbled before her eyes as one late evening, Ada announced that she will be going back to America.

Why? The blonde wondered, every night in bed after her loved one had left her. She lived in the village for a couple of good years and Laika thought she settled down for good, deciding to live the rest of her life together with Laika but–

"I have a job, beloved. I've been working from here for the past few years as you know, and now they need me to go back."

"But.. you will come back to me, right? I love you."

"And I love you, but I'm.. not coming back, Laika."

A warm hand on her shoulder brought her mind back from recalling all the happy and painful memories that flashed in her head, and the sharp grey eyes met the mysterious dark ones of the woman Laika once loved.

"Let me pick her up. My shelter is not far from here, you can call for another carriage from there once you patch up the lady."

Ada looked at the veiled woman still holding onto Laika, as if she were about to slip from her grasp and leave her there in the forest. Of course, Laika would never do so because she cared too much to let go. Donna slowly shifted from her safe place and looked up at the charming woman in front of her.

She didn't know who she was, but with the way she addressed Laika with care, Donna could only assume that this person is her maid's past lover, the one she heard about at the inn.

It made her feel angry for a moment.

Only for a moment.

Anger quickly vanished and disappointment replaced it. Utter sadness and misery overwhelmed her when she realized just how beautiful this woman is, who she came to understand carried the name Ada, and that there was absolutely no chance that she could go against her.
