Y/N Lupin was a lot of things to a lot of people.
That's what made her memorable. To teachers, even though she never had perfect grades, she was kind and curious — and that made her a perfect student. To Gryffindors, she was the house sister, the one who's always happy and loud and supportive. To all the kids in Hogwarts, she was a perfect friend, one who'll be with you through thick and thin, no matter who you are or how many mistakes you made.
And to countless boys and girls, you were a daydream. It was safe to say you had a lot of secret admirers, some more secretive than others. Like Regulus Black, but he'll never admit that to anyone.
You may not be perfection, but according to him, you were close enough to be. You helped everyone, charmed your way out of detentions and had a lot of tricks up your sleeves.
One day Regulus saw Helvar, a dumb Slytherin, bullying a first year kid. He was about to ask him to stop messing around, but you came out of nowhere, gave your sweet smile and said something to Helvar, who followed her like he was cursed.
From the next day onwards, Helvar the bully became Helvar the former bully. He gave a freaking flower to the kid he bullied the day before, and smiled so wide that the kid got scared and ran away. Helvar even gave Regulus the occasional pat on the shoulder and said, "Hang in there buddy, you look tired."
Regulus would be baffled each time. Were you a cult leader?
You might as well be the goddamn Midas because everyone you talked with had their darkness turned to gold, and everywhere you went got filled with laughs and giggles.Unfortunately for Regulus, you were Remus's brother, and the marauders weren't exactly a fan of him. Of course, it was known you were adopted, and even if you didn't look much like Remus's sibling, you still inherited all his kindness. Remus may not be the angriest person, but if he came to know Regulus liked his little sister, the chances of him turning into a monster wasn't that low.
Regulus never addressed his feelings, but he felt his heart beating erratically whenever you came close, and as of now, it was going in the speed of a rocket.
Both of you were in the library and he was trying so hard to concentrate on what he was reading, but you were sitting opposite him, laughing every once in a while when you read something funny.
He wondered which book you were reading, and whether he should teach himself the jokes from those scenes. He had a sudden vision of the two of you in bed, you on his chest while he read the book aloud, and you laughing. Even in a fantasy, it felt too intimate, so he focused his eyes on his own book, wishing you would just get up and go away.
The next time you laughed, he sighed, knowing he's not going to get through a page if you kept that up. You looked up with apologetic eyes.
"I'm sorry Reg, I'll try to be quiet."
"Reg?" He asked, his eyebrows raising.
"Do you prefer Reggie? Or maybe Relly?"
"No, no- Reg is fine," He said hastily. "I just didn't think you'd know my name."
"Why won't I know your name?" You frowned.
"Because, um, nevermind, what are you reading?"
"Percy Jackson." You said, smiling fondly. "I love these dumb kids."
"What's it about?" He asked, returning a smile. It was easy enough to talk to you, so he had no reason not to.
"Demigods and how they never have a normal life." You shut the book and he felt a pang of hurt, thinking you'd go. But you didn't. "I was supposed to prepare for my Astronomy exam, but I easily get distracted. I don't like studying things I don't wanna know."
