You threw all your clothes into your bag, hardly caring what you were taking. All you knew was that you had to get out now, before your fellow Slytherins would wake up.

"Y/N?"

Damnit. You turned around, already knowing who was the speaker.

Narcissa looked worried. "What are you doing in the middle of the night?"

Thousands of lies flew before your eyes. Pick one, your mind said.
You swatted all of them away like they were annoying flies.

You couldn't lie, not to her.

"I'm leaving," you resumed your packing. If you kept looking at her eyes, you might stay.

"With those dummies from Gryffindor?" She sounded hurt more than betrayed. "Do you really hate us that much?"

You slung the bag over your shoulders and turned around.

"Your boyfriend and his little group of friends are going to kill muggle-borns and then maybe muggles. I'd rather help James stop that from happening," you said firmly. "And you're not one of them, so don't pretend to be."

You tried to push past her, but she grabbed your wrist. As if she was touching fire, she let it go just as fast, but her eyes remained wistful.

"Promise me you'll stay safe," she pleaded.

"I will."

"And he's not my boyfriend."

"Not yet," you shrugged. "But one day, the two of you will be married and you'll try to be on the right side of things. You'll horribly fail. But I promised you something, so can I ask for a favor in return?'

"Anything," she said, her words quick as a bullet firing.

"One day," you whispered, "you'll get a chance to prove that you're not with the death eaters. Whatever it is, do it. I'm going to fight this from outside but you're just as important."

Her eyes held a determined fire and you hoped it won't die away anytime soon.

"Infiltrate, act carefully, and take that bastard Voldemort down," you said sternly.

"For you, I will."

You smiled and were off. You may not see her again, but you'll hold out your promise, and you knew she'll remember hers.
