(A YEAR AND A 9 MONTHS LATER)I was late.
He's going to kill me.
It's been more than a year since I made the deal with Koris and started training with Elios.
I'm turning 16 in a month and the month after that is my entrance to the academy. Penelope and Koris are already enrolled in the academy. Me and Koris are still in contact as he's pretty much still in love with my step-sister.
Ella and I have gotten close in the past year and are planning to enter the academy together. I already convinced my mother that I would take her since Penny brought several of her maids to the academy.
Right now I was running through the forest towards the tower to train with Elios.
I could say there was a huge improvement on my part, but my teacher says otherwise;
"You're late." Elios closed his book and scowled at me.
"Is that a way to talk to your lady?" I raised a brow.
He rolled his eyes. "You're late, Ari."
After the constant bickering and the endless snides, he finally managed to call me by my mame instead of child, brat, human, and mortal.
"So what are we learning today?"
He smirked and place a pile of books in front of me. "You will be learning all of these. Memorize each and every concept, familiarize every spell, and soak up all that knowledge."
I looked at the endless pile of books. "You're kidding me, right? No training? No magic spells that go boom? Just books? You must be joking."
"A god has no time to jest."
"A god is out of his mind if he expects me to study all of these." I narrowed my eyes at him. "Penelope has the IQ of a rock but managed to enter the academy, I don't think I need all of these."
"You need these to enter the Holy treasury. Top students and student councilmen are the only ones allowed, yes?"
"Then I'll just run for student council," I suggested.
He scoffed. "And gamble my freedom on democracy? Study all of these, we only have a few months left before entering the academy."
I sighed as I opened one of the books. "History of the great war." I read aloud then he snatched the book out of my hand.
"How did this get here." He said as he closed the book and placed it back on the shelf. "Continue."
I gave him a weirded-out look but decided to shrug it off and open another one.
After hours of scouring and reading, I began to piece out a bunch of plotholes and details that weren't present in the original novel.
It was amazing that there was a whole new world different from what the novel showed.
As I finished my third book, I saw Elios reading the book he took from me earlier. It was odd, he was looking at it with so much pain. I went over to him and gave him a pat on the shoulder.
"What'cha readin'?"
He raised a brow, "Do you really have that much free time to be engaging in useless chatter?"
"Wha-"
"If so, feel free to add more books to your plate." He stood up and placed four more books into my hand. "Consider this as your homework." He said as he strode off.
