A little while after Evan, my brother, left, my mom called the police. Since he was 18 he had the choice of coming home.

Evan never came back.

For the first week I never gave up hope thinking "Maybe he will return." or "I think today's the day." The second week my hope died down.

The next month I stopped talking.

I went back to school, that fall people would say "Little Laura not gonna do anything again because, why? Oh wait almost forgot you're too scared." Or things to that effect because my brother always defended me from bullies. I was a magnet especially because I was different.

I didn't eat too often anymore; I never really see the point. I really only eat dinner now, because my parents make me. I never cut or wanted to kill myself, but maybe that's because of a different reason. And I especially don't want to cause others pain like Evan's caused me. Plus, I'm just not like that.

Not talking has made all my friends leave me because, it is hard to start a conversation with someone who doesn't talk. They all fled from me and I had nothing left. That is until Elizabeth came around.

Elizabeth didn't care I didn't talk. She went out and bought us this really cool note book so we could "talk". Elizabeth is at my house so much it's like she lives here.

It was hard for everyone to understand I stopped talking. My dad wouldn't except it. My step-mom had to scream at him "SHE CAN'T TALK SO DON'T PUSH IT!"

My mom took it badly. She went in her room and wouldn't come out for the rest of the day. My step-dad accepted it with open arms telling me "It's who you are don't let anyone tell you anything else".

My parents don't really trust my judgement since I stopped talking so I'm never really home alone. I guess they don't want me to do anything stupid. I don't think I would.

I heard someone snapping their fingers in front of me, snapping me out of my thoughts, "are you even listening?" I heard my dad's new wife, Eva, ask me.

I slowly nodded and looked over to my dad who had a very big smile plastered on it, which was kinda odd for him.

I then heard the words "I'm pregnant" slither out of Eva's mouth.
