Ch. 21 "Goodbye"

                                                Cameron POV 

Commander Steve led me down a series of hallways, 

We came to a door, where he had to used his hand to get it, I hesitated as he held the door open, 

"Cameron if I wanted to I could have led you into a trap ages ago," He said swiftly, 

I swallowed thickly, walking in the room, it was huge, 

Luxurious, with a desk and chair, 

"Sit," Commander Steve said 

I sat in the chair in front of the desk as Commander Steve sat behind the desk, 

He had his elbows on the desk as he hands were in a pyramid somewhat, 

"So little one it looks like you've got a choice to make," He said darkly, 

"What are you talking about?" I said looking at him, 

"Right I guess I have to explain," He said 

Commander snapped his fingers and a bot flew down, a image came into view it looked like a piece of rice, I thought, 

"This is our newest design, a Nanite explosive, it's the size of a rice grain, but as powerful as a hand grenade," Commander said 

Okay is he expecting some sort of congratulations? I thought 

I guess my face gave away my confusion, 

"Patients little one," He said 

"We injected not only your Steve with this device but his friends that came with also," Commander said 

My eyes widen at this, 

"Now that you understand the severity of this situation, here are your choices," He said he leaned in, 

"They stay here and die, or go home and live," He said 

"Can I go home with them?" I asked scared, 

"You know the answer to that question little one," He said 

"Will you send them back home, and not somewhere awful?' I said sadly looking down at my hands knowing I've been defeated, 

"You have my word little one," He said looking up at him

"If I choose to send them home can I make one last request?" I said feeling the tears welling up in my eyes, 

He nodded, 

"Can I say goodbye," I said 

This broke my heart, but I couldn't leave them here to die, not my dad, not my family, I couldn't do that to them. 

After everything they've done for me, sacrificed I thought 

Commander looked at me, 

He was hesitating, 

"Please, I promise I won't do anything, I'll listen.... Just let me say goodbye to them," I said feeling the tears fall down my cheeks, 

Commander stood up silent, 

"You will listen from here on out," He said 

I nodded, 

"You will do as your told when told," He said 

I nodded, 

I felt the tears rolling down my cheeks, 

"No defiance, No resistance," He said 

"None," I said with a shaky voice, 

"As long as you let me say goodbye to them, I will do as you say. When say it," I said trying my hardest to convince him, 

"It will be just like you want, I promise," I said 

He walked over to me kneeling in front of me,

"Okay Little one so long you keep your end of the promise, I would hate to have to go to your earth and detonate the nanite's just to teach you a lesson," He said 

I nodded, 

"Good, alright I'll give you five minutes to say goodbye," He said 

I nodded, 

He kissed the side of my head it took everything in me not to pull away, I needed to keep my promise, 

In order to keep my family alive, I had to do this, the ultimate sacrifice, to save them, 

Commander lead me to the lower levels, where My dad and the others were being held, he opened the door, 

The shield agents, looked at us, 

"Out," Commander said 

They all scurried out of the room, 

He kneeled in front of me, the others watched, 

"Remember your promise, no funny business," Commander said darkly 

I nodded, 

He nodded and stood up walking out of the room, 

"Cameron!" Dad yelled hands on the bars, 

"Dad!" I rushed to the cell

Hugging him through the bars, 

He cupped my cheeks 

"Are you hurt?" He asked worried, 

I shook my head no, as tears steamed down my cheeks, 

"What is it?" Dad asked worried, 

"They, planted a device inside of each and everyone of you," I said as my voice shook, 

"We know," Tony said 

"Do you also know it's an explosive," I said 

They all looked shocked, 

"That part I missed," Tony said 

"In order to save your lives, I chose you send you all home, while I stay here and be good," I said 

"Cameron you can't be serious!" Bucky said 

"It was either that or to watch you all die, and I just couldn't do that," I said as tears fell down my cheeks, 

"Cameron.." Dad said 

I know he was worried Dad only says my full name when he's worried, 

"I had to do this, everything you all have done for me, sacrificed for...me, it was my turn to make the sacrifice this time," I said 

"And I'll never forget that," I said tears falling down my cheeks, 

"Cameron we can't let you-" Nat said 

"I have to save you all," I said 

I looked at Dad, 

"Just like you saved me," I said 

Dad cupped my cheek with his hand, 

"We will figure this out, and come back for you," Dad said 

I nodded 

Dad kissed my forehead, 

"Time's up," Commander said 

I nodded 

Hugging dad one last time before walking out of the room with Commander, 

I'll never forget them, I won't, 

I felt Commander's hand on top of my head, 

"Don't worry little one, you will learn to accept this," He said 

I just nodded knowing I had no choice, knowing this is what I chose in order to save them
