28)One Big Gang

"We gotta talk."

Oscar, Rio, the boys, and I all walked to my room so we were alone. I hugged Rio before he sat down. Rio was an uncle to me just like he was a father to Danny. Once they all sat I locked the door.

"We need to keep the gang together and there's already enough gangs in California. We need to be the best here just like we were in Detroit. The gangs here run differently and we need to get into the groove with them. The best way to do that is have someone or a gang help. We're already cool with the Santos and they're a good gang. The easiest way to get the gangs to work together is to join them." Rio immediately stood up and walked to me.

"Listen to me and listen carefully, okay? This gang has been through hell since your pops died and then you left us. I know all you wanted was a semi-normal life where you graduate and get a boyfriend. I know you want an easy life and I'm sorry you can't have that. However, you just got the gang here and they don't trust you to run it. You are 18, 19 in less than a month. You have no idea how to run a gang. Your dad may have died early and that makes you the next leader but you have zero idea about 75% of the things he had to do to keep this gang going. If you wanna have us follow you then you have to make this a family decision with all of us. You can't just say that we're combining our gangs. This man may have your back right now but you don't know the future and the only way we will ever combine our gang with another without discussion is if you two get married." Rio was a smart man but he always said things without hearing the full story.

"I know I can't join the gangs without discussion but I have to start with the people I trust most and that's who's in this room right now. I need to know you have my back and that you think this is a good decision. I need to know that you will have my back on this even if they don't." Rio went back to his seat and nodded his head.

"You don't know me man and I don't know you but this girl, this woman you see in front of you. She is built for this, you might think she is just a kid but this woman has done things that I haven't done. She tortured and killed her own damn uncle. She stopped the Prophets in a shootout between the Santos she had the leader on his knees in front of her. I got this girl back till I die. This girl is the girl that I want to marry and have kids with, so don't underestimate her." Oscar's voice was strong and my eyes were glued to his face while he looked at Rio. This man wanted to marry me. Oscar looked at me with a smile. I looked back to the boys and they were all wearing a smirk. I felt my cheeks flame red so I quickly looked down.

Rio stood and shook Oscar's hand. "I trust you Shorty and this man has my respect. I've always had your back, you should never have had to ask in the first place." I nod to Rio and the boys all stand up.

"Are you waiting for something? Of course we have your back. You've taken care of us and pulled us from hell. We will always have your back shit we owe you the skin on our backs." I laugh at Tony and nod to all of them. I look at Oscar and he holds out his hand to me. I smile and put my hand into his intertwining our fingers. We walk out the room with the boys following us.

It was night and people had spread throughout the houses that were bought and some were in the basement. We all went to the living room and talked through logistics and how the gang was doing on sales and everything else.

*Morning*

My eyes fluttered open. My head sat on Oscar's chest as he leaned onto the couch arm. His arms were wrapped around my waist and a blanket was thrown over us. Rio and the boys must have all gone to a room. I listen to Oscar's heart and rub my hand on his chest. I look at a clock on the wall and see that it's 9:34 in the morning. I hear footsteps walking into the living room. I see Rio walk into the room and sit on the other couch.

He smiles at me and I send a tired smile back. I feel Oscar start to shift under me and look up to see his eyes flutter open. I smile at him when he looks down at me. His hands rub my back before he looks up and sees Rio sitting on the other couch. I go to stand up but Oscar stops me and looks down at me with puppy eyes. I laugh and lift myself up to kiss him before getting up and going into the kitchen to start breakfast.
