Chapter 5, Matters
Yet another day of school, with Athene walking like a corpse. No matter what escaped her lips, only Blaise knew she was hurting inside, and Rox was...distant.
''Hey, Athe" Blaise and Rox, sat down beside Athene in the cafeteria.
"Oh hey, Blaise and...Rox."
"Oh hi, Athe." Rox said looking up shortly from her phone, and then continuing texting.
Athene just didn't care anymore. So she just stayed with her lips pursed in a line.
"Hey, aren't you going to eat something?" Blaise asked, noticing a coffee, in her hand, and 2 empty cups of coffee tossed behind her.
" Yeah you look like you haven't eaten anything in days, you look simply ghastly." Rox commented, and laughed. Blaise gave her a look, and she stopped laughing.
"Yeah hey, when was the last time you had a proper meal or slept?" Blaise asked athene, with concern dripping in his voice.
" Guys, don't worry about me, I will be fine, and now if you will excuse me, I need some fresh air, with a book."
"But are you-"
"I am fine." Athene cut Blaise off, and even though she knew there was no truth to those three words, she knew enough that she did not want her bestfriend, to worry or think too much over her.
Athene quickly grabbed a copy of the book, "Journals of Sylvia Palth." and stepped on the grounds of the school. It was the first day of a new semester, students in emerald green school coats ran around, excited, for they thought the semester would bring some new fun. Athene sat down, on the stone steps of the school, and watched the world around her, girls whispering amongst themselves, guys shaking their heads and laughing. the smell of the fresh piece of parchment of grass, carefully bladed, dragonflies buzzing away, with their silver wings. Clouds making it feel like it might rain. Soon she started regretting Not bringing her coat, as a chilly breeze blew by, she shivered, but nonetheless, started Reading the book. As time flew, and the book progressed, she was so engrossed in the book that she did not notice as someone Sat down, beside her.
" Hey loner." Drace sat down, beside Athene.
Athene not paying attention to the world, was startled at the sudden voice.
"Oh god, hey Demetre!" Athene says catching her breath.
"You a Sylvia Palth, fan?"
"Oh...uh Yeah."
"That's nice, finally! someone with my taste."
"And I thought I was the only one. Haha." She gave out a dry laugh, that sounded so hollow even to her own ears.
"Hey, um...how are you doing?"
"I'm fine."
"Does that even sound true to your own ears?"
"That is none of your business."
"Ah hey, I'm sorry, I'm just trying to look out for you."
"Huh, Yeah, like talking about what I feel will just magically make all my feelings disappear?"
"Its never really that easy, but talking about it, At least makes you face it, and I think that's the hardest part. Acceptance, And actually having to face the reality."
