"It's gone." Matt repeated, rubbing his face, clearly stressed.
"He got it!" Woods and I shouted in unison. I was still perched on the wall by the ladder. Woods was standing next to me, camera in hand. He put it into the camera bag and zipped it up.
"Just, come down here for a second," Matt called up to us. I hopped off the wall, grabbed my backpack, and climbed back up to the ladder. I swung my leg over the wall and onto the first rung.
"Why weren't you guys responding?" Sam questioned as she and Matt jogged over.
"I dropped the walkie!" Woods yelled down. Matt and Sam picked up the now smashed walkie-talkie. "I screwed up!" Woods added. He was clearly upset with himself.
"He came over..." I started before deciding to just explain down there. I climbed down the ladder, Woods following behind, or, above.
"He's already gone!" I said loudly, jumping from the last rung to the concrete.
"What just happened?" Matt asked exasperated. "We pulled around and he was no where to be found, but you're telling me he was already inside?"
Woods and I walk over to them.
"We saw him," I began, "he was, he was walking over, just about to go in."
"Then I messaged you guys," Woods continued, "and I dropped the walkie. And then he heard us..."
"And that's when he turned the corner, and you guys were there."
"So, where did he go? He just ran back this way." Sam stated.
"He went inside!" Woods and I replied.
"And he took the..." I stopped, upset and still partially in shock. "His car!"
"I'm sorry, I..." Woods said. "I didn't mean to drop it."
"It's fine, dude, it's fine," Matt voiced, "the important thing is, is that we're all safe."
"I have it," Woods said, holding the camera bag up. "I have him on here."
"You filmed the whole thing?"
"I filmed the whole thing."
"Was it clear?" Sam asked.
"We literally ran into him, almost!" Matt cried incredulously.
"Why didn't you?" I muttered.
"What?" The three of them said, turning to me.
"I would've. It would eliminate our problem."
They stared at me in confused horror for a moment, then resumed the talk about the footage. Sam kept asking Woods if he got it, fully. Matt was questioning the speed of the stalker. And I stood, leaning against the wall, processing what just happened. I temporarily avoided having an anxiety attack. The stalker still has access to the building. He took the Mountaineer.
Matt's words brought me out of my thoughts. "Let's just go look at this."
We went inside to watch the footage. CJ had to go, seeing as it was extremely late. Sam was on camera.
"I'm frazzled," Matt said, turning from the camera to Woods and I.
Woods grabbed the bag from his shoulder and set it on a nearby chair.
"You 100% you recorded everything?" Matt asked, "Like, you weren't just looking through the camera?"
"I'm actually positive." Woods replied, pulling the camera from the bag.
