It had been a week since the email. I was at the airport with my mom. We decided to have her drop me off so my car wouldn't be here for a month. Suddenly, we hear the crackle of the intercom.
"Final boarding call for flight 119A to California. Please proceed the gate 4."
"That's me." I said with a bright smile.
"Have a great time, sweetie," my mom said, "stay safe and shine for Jesus."
"I will," I replied, "love you, mom."
"I love you, too." We wrapped each other into a hug. We pulled apart and I started to walk toward the gate entrance.
"Bye mom!"
"Bye!"
I boarded the plane and found my seat. I put my bag up, sat down, and smiled to myself. I was flying to California to do a collab with some of my favorite YouTubers.
I laid back in my seat and relaxed. This was only going to be a 4 hour flight, so I spent most of the time looking out the window and thinking of what we could do in California.
Four and a half hours later, I was getting off the plane and going down an escalator, looking for Sam. Just as I was about to pull out my phone to message her, I heard someone yell my name.
I turned in the direction of the voice. Then I saw her.
"Sam!" I cried, moving as fast as I could while wheeling around two huge suitcases. I stopped in front of Sam and Ryan and hugged Sam closely. Even though we had never met in person, it felt like we were best friends.
"I can't believe I finally get to see you in person!" Sam said excitedly as we pulled away.
"Me too! I couldn't wait to meet you in real life and not over email or DM."
"Yeah," She agreed. "Oh, Sarah, this is Ryan," Sam said, motioning to her boyfriend. "Although I would assume you already know him."
I chuckled and replied, "Well, not as much as I know you, but, yes, I do know Ryan."
Ryan stuck out his hand and I shook it happily.
"It's so nice to finally meet you," Ryan said with a kind smile, "Sam has told me a lot about you, and I've also seen some of your videos. Your story is amazing, and your content is, too."
I blushed a bit and replied with, "Thanks. I've seen a lot of your videos, too. I remember recognizing you from Liv and Maddie, since I watched that show a lot as a kid. I love your content."
"Well, this month, our content will combine!" Sam exclaimed, a huge smile on her face. "Come on, let's go home so you can set up your room and rest."
We walked out and climbed into Sam's car. After a short drive, we arrived at their house. It was a beautiful house, and definitely looked like the kind of place Sam and Ryan would live.
We went inside and Sam helped me connect to the WiFi so I could text my mom. Ryan helped me bring my luggage from the trunk into the spare room. They gave me some time to put my things up and relax. The first thing I did was text my mom.
Hey mom, I'm at Sam's house now.
Great! Did you have a good flight?
Yes, everything went smoothly.
Good to hear.
Well, I gonna put my stuff away. I love you!
I love you too!
I put my phone on the charger and start putting somethings away, most of which were small, like toiletries and makeup. I put my books on the nightstand, as well as my chapstick and case for my glasses. Then, I move to my clothes. After I put most of my clothes away, I checked the time. 3 o' clock. If I was in Florida, it would be 6. I wasn't feeling anything yet, but I knew I would feel something later.
I finished everything by 4:30. I contemplated taking a nap. I wasn't really tired though, so I decided against it. I walked out into the living room where Sam and Ryan were watching a tv show.
Aww, they look so cute together.
"Hey guys." I said, trying not to be too loud, as I am known for being a loud person. They turned to me with two smiles.
"Hey Sarah, did you get all your stuff set up?" Sam asked as Ryan paused the show.
"Yep, didn't take too long."
"We were planning on going out to eat tonight, where are you thinking you'd like to go?" Sam asked.
"Hm..." I tapped my foot for a moment before snapping my fingers. "What about Rattler's Bar B Que? I've heard good things about that place."
"Oh, I love Rattler's!" Ryan said, "They've got great ribs."
Sam nodded and said, "Ok, how about we head out now, and then after, we can take you to Wafflecomb."
I scrunched my nose. "What's Wafflecomb?"
"It's an ice cream shop Ryan and I like to go to. You've mentioned loving ice cream so many times, so I figured it be a great place to get dessert."
"Oh, cool!" I said, "And yes, I love ice cream!"
"Ok," Ryan said as the two of them stood, "we ready to go?"
"Oh wait!" I bolted to my room and grabbed my phone from the charger. 100%. Perfect. I ran back out and said, "Now I'm ready."
We got back in the car and went to Rattler's. The baby back ribs were really good, and so was the twice-baked mashed potatoes were amazing. After we finished, we drove to Wafflecomb and got the cutest ice creams I ever saw.
After we ate, we drove around the city so I could have a look around and vlog a bit. It was beautiful and amazing. I never imagined I'd be here because of YouTube, and yet, here I am.
We got back to the house at about 8:30. I was exhausted, partly because of jet lag. And because back in Florida, it would be about 11:30. I let out a big yawn, really to get into bed and sleep.
Before I went to bed, Sam told me that she had to go to the studio before we filmed, so I would get to go with her and meet everyone.
Going to Hi5 Studios and meeting everyone there? Heck yeah! This is going to be the best month ever!
But little did I know what would unfold in the next week.
