Once Kendra Rayne, a giant girl, was in fourth grade, she learned that the power in Wintergreen was generated by a nuclear power plant. She was curious, so she walked to it the weekend after she learned it. Workers heard her coming, and one who was outside of the building said to her, "Don't get too close, young lady!"

She paused, then asked, "Why not?"

"Because this power plant is dangerous to those that are unprotected!"

"How is it dangerous?"

"Do you know how radiation works?"

"I don't know what that word means."

"Radiation is something that can be lethal in high enough doses. Even though you're massive, I'm pretty sure you're still vulnerable to radiation poisoning. For some reason, lead protects against radiation, and you're not wearing any, so just stay away. It's for your own good. On a side note, unlike in fiction, it does not turn you into superheroes or monsters. It just gives you cancer, a set of deadly diseases that can all be described as your own body betraying you."

Kendra wanted to run, but did not want to trip, so she just walked away. She was so influenced by the warning of this stranger who worked at the nuclear power plant that she developed a fear of radiation poisoning and nuclear weapons.

As she was walking away, a figure appeared that looked humanoid, but had pointed ears, thick hair, a stocky frame, small hands and feet, large eyes, and bronze skin. The figure said in a masculine voice, "They do have a valid point. Even though you're massive, super strong, and massively durable, you are not invulnerable, miss Rayne."

Kendra was about to say something, but realized what he had said, so she asked, "How do you know who I am?!"

"Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Sorath, a Child of Vividaren."

"Who or what is 'Vividaren?'"

"She is the omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent goddess that created every universe, including this one. I was directly created by her and gifted with agelessness. Anyway, I was created and assigned to this planet in this universe. I mostly just leave humans to their own devices, but I do interfere to save the world if not doing so would lead to global disaster."

The giant girl just stared, silenced by all of the information. Sorath said, "And I'm a sort of guardian angel to you. Vividaren says that you are important, but I don't know how. She hasn't told me, and avoids the question when I asked her. Also, I have a question for you. Do you think you're invincible?"

She paused, realizing that no one even tried to hurt her for as long as she remembered. She replied, "Nothing has tried to attack me since I became this tall, though I probably have some weakness."

"Correct. Giants like you are still vulnerable to radiation poisoning, so you staying away from the nuclear power plant is a good idea. Now, whether you're as vulnerable to it as a normal human, even more vulnerable to it, or less vulnerable is something I haven't figured out. Also, your immune system is not as aggressive as that of a normal human, but you'll still live a healthier life. That is normal for giants."

He turned into pink slime, which started as the same humanoid shape he was in, but quickly fell into a puddle, or at least it would if it didn't float in the air. The slime morphed into a form that still looked humanoid, but had some snake like features. In particular, he had fangs, a forked tongue, eyes like those of a snake, as well as a scaly torso, a scaly face, and scaly arms and hands.

Kendra was wondering if he was an impostor pretending to be a divine being. She didn't know the word "blasphemy" yet, but if that were the case, this shape shifter may have committed blasphemy, even if it was a joke. Noticing her surprise, he said, "I assure you it's still me, Sorath. I can just morph into other shapes. This form that looks like a human with snake features is one of my alternate forms. The first form of mine you saw me in is my true form."

Kendra walked the rest of the way to her home. She did not know whether to tell her parents about what she saw and heard, and ultimately decided against it, thinking they wouldn't believe her or she would think she was hallucinating and/or insane. She also struggled to fit Sorath into the way she thought the world worked, though she managed to retain her sanity and not go mad.

She could not fit inside her own home due to her size. On the bright side, the difference in size between her and a normal person, even an adult, was small enough that her seeing them would be easy. Not that a giant could get so massive that humans were too small to see.
