One Sunday evening after Kendra and Kai had become partners, Reuben and Sienna were at the Church of Vividarenism with their daughter, who stood out among everyone there. Someone was playing a video game final boss song on an organ the church owned, and very few people there thought it was unusual due to not knowing the source. There was also a sphere the size of a basketball in some stained glass art to add depth, though it stood out. It had pure shining white features.
The priest, who was Kai's father named Mr. J.T. Cooper, said, "Mates, the Lady's light is within us all, as is her word. I want one of you to let it out."
Before someone could answer, a white, pink, and red sphere appeared above them and in front of the stained glass. Sorath, the one who confirmed Kendra was not invincible, was in it, and the sphere disappeared with him still there. Kendra noticed and recognized him as soon as he was there, though the others were confused as to what appeared to be an actual religious experience. He turned into a pink slime, then into a form that still looked humanoid, but had skin that looked like plants, had a bluish color that reminded those that saw it of certain kinds of undead in fiction, had yellow dots on his skin that reminded the onlookers of a benelovent magic user, walked like a zombie, and as the moon rose, canine features manifested.
In this new form, Sorath took control of an actor named Remy MacDonald, who people liked the voice of, and he said, "Wintergreen! Beware! Beware! A giant monster invading this world! The eyes of a bird! The antennae of insects! A short tail! The legs of dinosaurs! And a head that can roar to break things! He should not exist! And yet he does!! On an unrelated note, the white sphere in the stained glass art is the Sacred Wish Sphere."
The voice of Remy was overlaid with the voice Kendra knew Sorath had. It seemed supernatural and evil, but it had good intentions. Sorath in that form was behind and above Remy.
Everyone stared at the actor under the control of their world's god, not believing that giant monsters were real and thinking he was crazy.
On the way back to her home with her parents, Kendra asked, "Mom, why are so many movies about giant monsters?"
Sienna replied, "It's a complex story. Back in July of 1945, in Japan, which was then one of the Axis Powers fighting in World War II, had a giant of similar size to you in it. He wanted to rule all of Japan and possibly more, but the Imperial Japanese military, which had taken all practical political power in the country, refused because they did not want to lose their power. To send them a message, he rampaged throughout Hiroshima. He planned to recover for a week, but the month had turned to August. The US tried to end World War II with atomic bombs. The first one, known as Little Boy, was dropped in Hiroshima. When they arrived, they saw it was already rubble. Since they were too far out to explain it to their superiors, and because questioning superiors is frowned upon in the military, they dropped it anyway. That was how he died, because nuclear weapons are the weakness of every living thing. In the 1950s, people sought to make a movie based on those events. They decided not to have a giant man devastate Hiroshima because it was too soon and would be insensitive. This may seem strange, but many films that claim to be based on a true story take a lot of artistic liberties. That is normal for the industry, meaning that films claiming to be based on a true story should be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway, the ones who made the film in the 1950s settled on a giant creature combining elements of multiple dinosaurs into one, making it associated with radioactivity, and having it attack Tokyo. And thus, Mobjira, the most famous movie monster of all time, was born."
"That explains it!"
Reuben said, "Also, in fiction made in US, radiation turns people into superheroes. In fiction made in Japan, it turns things into monsters. I suspect Little Boy and Fat Man, which was dropped later when Japan refused to surrender despite the devastation, are the reasons for that."
The daughter asked, "D-do either of you two think there will be giant aliens invading us?"
Sienna replied, "Of course not! Why would they travel a long distance just for war?"
"Oh. You have a point."
That night, Kendra had a dream where she was in a battle royal with a bunch of different animals. There were Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Triceratops, woolly rhinos, mammoths, giant ground sloths, cave bears, Carcharodontosaurus, hippos, and giraffes. There was also one unique creature: a T. rex that had a cannon on its back, a laser gun on the top of its head, flamethrowers on either side of the head, a minigun on each side of the body, and a shotgun on each side of the body, above the miniguns. It somehow knew how to use all of the weapons at will, which did not harm it. Her brain told her that the shotguns were close range, the laser gun was long range, the miniguns were medium range, the cannon was long range, and the flamethrower were close range area of effect weapons. It also told her that the T. rex was male.
Kendra was larger than some of the animals, but smaller than others. In the end, she won because the animals all killed each other. The T. rex could take hits better than the Carcharodontosaurus due to the weapons, but the weapons stopped shooting after they took enough damage.
The location of the fight was a circular arena that was a circular forest in its center, grassland towards the outer edges, and shallow wetland that could be waded through between the two.
There was a timer, but it jumped to arbitrary numbers that were not linear forwards or backwards. It also said things like having 99 seconds even though there were minutes visible and 60 seconds was a minute. The sky was a colorful nebula that kept changing colors and patterns. The walls of the arena were made of stone, and in the spectator stands, there looked to be a lot of reanimated corpses of humans with torsos made of diamond, chainsaws attached to each of their right arms, things on their legs that her brain told her were called "Precision Strikers," and a helmet that was based on a common but inaccurate depiction of the helmets of vikings. Their skin was colored either green or gray, and there were various shades for each.
She woke up after winning, and was glad that it was a dream because she would be worried if several extinct creatures lived again without being questioned.
