The day was the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The year was not one where state or federal government members in the state Wintergreen was in were up for election, though. It started like normal for the people of the town. Adults went to work, kids went to school, and Kendra was still the odd one out among the town because everyone who lived there knew of her.
That all changed when a white and pink sphere appeared. It had strange patterns and grew fast. People could make out a massive creature that should not have been able to exist in it. Eventually, the sphere disappeared, and the creature was still there.
Its main body was green but reminded the witnesses of Mobjira. It had a head that reminded them of an iguana, eyes like those of a bird on either side of its head, two antennae like those of an insect that were bent forward, arms with hands that had three fingers each that were quite short compared to those of a human but still looked useful, legs like those of a theropod dinosaur that also had a toe behind it, and a relatively short but reptilian tail. It was 48 feet tall if one did not count its antennae, but was 54 feet tall if one did. It looked different and as if it did not belong in the world. That was not about its shape or size, but about its style.
Everyone there just stared in disbelief, only for it, or rather he, to break the silence and say, "This world should be easy to conquer! No giant mechas, a far weaker military, and more things to destroy!"
His voice was booming, deep, and masculine. The local news got there right as he started destroying buildings.
"Breaking news: A giant monster has appeared and is attacking our city!" a news anchor said.
Kendra could hear it from the school she was at.
The PA system in the school said, "This has never happened before. Stay put unless the monster approaches you. In that scenario, run for your life!"
"Should I go after it?" Kendra asked herself. Unlike the rest of the town, she was a giant, so she might have had a chance at facing the creature in direct combat.
A teacher replied, "Don't do it, Kendra! This monster is far more massive than you are, and we don't know what we're up against! Your family would be heartbroken by the news of your death, no matter how valiant of a fighter you would be! So stay put unless the monster comes to you!"
Even though she was told to stay put, the giant defied those instructions and decided to go after the giant monster anyway. She found him with little trouble, and they stared each other down.
"Are you this city's defender? How pathetic!" The monster said.
Even though she was scared for her life and was not sure whether she was being brave or foolish, the giant girl glared at him.
"Who or what are you? Why are you doing this?" she asked with sternness that surprised everyone around, herself included.
"I am Agozud. I am not from this world, and I got here after making a deal with someone in a suit of full body armor."
"Why must you destroy this town in particular?! Why destroy any town at all?!"
"It's what I do because it's what I was created to do by Dr. Goig, who I doubt you've heard of. I chose here because this is where I started when I entered this universe, though it's smaller than I'd like because it's a town and not a city. It's normal for me to go after cities. There are five things I can do to destroy things better, faster, and easier. First, I can whip my tail behind me. Second, I can stomp with one of my feet. Third, I can roar with enough ferocity to damage buildings and knock flying vehicles out of the sky, as long as they're within a certain range of my roaring mouth. Fourth, I can shoot an "ice ball" from my antennae that freeze whatever they touch, though they are affected by gravity. I figured out that freezing flying things makes them fall to their explosive doom. Finally, I can shoot lightning out of my eyes, damaging buildings in its path. I have a lot of strength and durability, and I'm pretty sure that if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to support my own weight!"
He suddenly lunged at the shorter girl. She was on the defensive for what felt like a long time, though it wasn't really as long as she thought it was because adrenaline warped her perception of time. After a lot of dodging, she got reinforcements in the form of military planes, tanks, and helicopters. There were also two new, experimental things there. One was a truck that fired three rockets that was meant to be a superior version of a tank. The other was men with jetpacks on, armed with rocket launchers comparable to those found on helicopters that were also there.
Unfortunately for Kendra and all of Wintergreen, Agozud destroyed most of the military force. Each vehicle and jetpack man took only a single hit to destroy. It looked like the town was lost and would be destroyed, but another sphere like the one he came in appeared, with something or someone very different...
