One day, Kendra said to her parents, "May I go to the museum?"
Reuben replied, "I don't think you could fit in the door."
"Can you at least tell me what's inside, dad?"
"There is one exhibit dedicated to natural history, which has a lot of dinosaur fossils. Actually, they're just replicas because the real ones are heavy, fragile, and valuable to science. The real ones are behind closed doors, not meant to be seen by the public. There is another exhibit about ancient Egypt, but that is far from all of what's in it. You might not fit into all of those areas."
"I understand. Oh! Isn't there a TV studio in town?
"Correct! Golden Petal makes TV for broadcasting here! They are one of the biggest names in town."
"Think we'll have a field trip there, seeing as school is starting up again?"
"Maybe? Don't count on it, though."
Kendra was hopeful throughout her time in school, which was at Vale High. Not letting the hopes of being in a place she had never been to before consume her thoughts, she managed to befriend a boy named Kai Cooper who had trouble fitting in for different reasons than her. He had immigrated from Australia, and no one took him seriously because of his accent. She looked past his accent, and he looked past her great size. Even though she said she wouldn't fall in love with him for fear of hurting him, she did, though she wanted to wait for the perfect time to confess.
As her crush on him developed, she developed attraction to both boys and girls. Kai just happened to be a boy, making her look straight. She knew that there should not be anything wrong with that, but she remembered that people made jokes about gay marriage not being legal even though it was okay to "marry" inanimate objects. She wondered if those were serious or not.
Kendra and her classmates were going to have a field trip was to Golden Petal Studios. She liked that she would get to see a behind the scenes look at a show she heard got a good critical reception. She had to walk there due to not fitting in the bus. They got to see the making of an episode of a variety show called "The Thunderclap Show" where a former wrestler got to entertain all ages.
"What are you doing, following a school bus?" asked a security guard.
"I-I'm with them. I d-don't fit on the bus." replied the giant girl.
The bus driver opened the door on his side of the bus and said, "She's right!"
She was happy because someone she didn't interact with much would vouch for her. Once there, she had to crawl to enter the building. This was embarrassing, but she was careful not to mess up their equipment.
The giant girl was happy that she got to see Thunderclap, who she had developed an admiration for without realizing she was beneath him in terms of status. It was not sexual, though.
He had a voice that she couldn't help but laugh at, and he said things she found hilarious.
"Don't touch things unless I say it's okay!" he shouted.
"Especially you, giant girl!"
She was shocked at that remark, but rather than take anger out on him, she fell to her knees in sadness. She managed to avoid hurting herself with the fall, because she also had a fear of falling even short heights relative to her.
Kai walked up to her and said, "It's okay. Who someone is in the mind of the public and who they are in real life can be very different."
He gave her a kiss on the cheek, which caused the other students to stare.
"I-is this a love confession?" Kendra asked.
Kai replied, "Yep! I love you, Kendra!"
Seeing this as her best chance, she said, "I-I love you, too, Kai! P-please be my boyfriend! Don't let this be awkward!"
They gave each other big kisses with red faces, and everyone else just stared more.
She now had a boyfriend, and he now had a girlfriend. She did not know what all that would entail, and she was his first partner as well. They may have been a bit young for romantic relationships, but they didn't let that bother them too much.
