Stepping up to that school felt like the longest, most dragged out step in my entire life. I didn't even want to go, let alone join the army in the first place. However, my parents thought it was good for me, since I was generally the most athletic kid in the grade, got good grades, had the fastest reflexes they've certainly ever seen, and seemed to stand up for everything I believed in. I wasn't surprised I received a letter about my abilities. I was even less surprised when it was for Hope's Peak High, asking me to recruit myself as the ultimate soldier.

What do you know, they want the Leon Kuwata to sign up, I thought to myself once I saw the familiar logo across the top. I didn't even want to go, I wanted for once to be somewhat normal throughout my childhood but my parents yet again thought this as a grand opportunity for me. So of course, I was signed up, and the night before I packed my bags, said my goodbyes, packed my guitar, and got into bed, dreading the morning.

All of this lead up until now, me, walking in with my stuff and my letter, into a creepy ass building, with several thoughts of turning back. But really there was no way. I was signed up, I got accepted, I had zero say in anything.

I stared up at the dark windows and sighed, perhaps I can make friends here. No, I know I can! I've done it before at my old school, and then I had to move away, leaving my old friends behind. Of course, they were all for me going to this prestegious school, what's a better opportunity for growth they all said?

I nodded to myself, yes, this was going to be just fine. I can go in, impress some folks with stories from camps, then meet a few dudes, perhaps some chicks, and life will be great.

I finally had the courage to step through the doors and looked around at the hallway before me. Yep. It's a rich school alright. I took two steps forward and took a deep breath in.

And then my world went dark.

My brain slowly tuned into my surroundings a few moments later.

Where was I again?

I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I looked around at where I was and realized I was in a classroom. How in the world did I get here? Wasn't I just in a hallway with all of my stuff? Where is my guitar? I stood up and immediately stumbled, curious as to how and why my legs suddenly forgot how to walk. I shook off my stumble, and took in my surroundings. Not only was I in a classroom, it was a very weird classroom indeed. There were no other students, no teacher, and perhaps the strangest factor, the windows were boarded up with some type of steel panel. These panels were bolted by heavy-duty nuts and bolts, which were pretty much glued into the wall. I sighed, picking up my letter and rereading it, looking for anything that hints at passing out and waking up in some strange classroom by yourself. As expected, nothing. Was this some kind of sick joke?? I won't stand for this bullshit, I actually regret applying here.

I did see a note about orientation starting in the gym at 8 though. I opened the door to the classroom and looked out into the hallway. It was darker than I remember, or so I thought. Was it? I don't truly remember, my brain is still not at functioning capacity. So, I made my way down to the gym. Surprisingly, I was one of the first to show up. Besides me, only two other people resided in the empty gym. A fairly tall boy with a scarf stood in a corner looked up from his letter as I walked in, and a girl who wore her blue hair in a tight bun. A pair of rounded glasses sat at the edge of her button nose and she, too, was reading her letter, but unlike the boy she did not look up. I found her fairly cute, however I'm not typically after the studious type, so I shook it off.

The scarf-clad boy made his way over toward me and held out his hand.

"Welcome to orientation fellow classmate! My name is Kiyotaka Ishimaru, it is a pleasure to meet you this fine morning!" The boy, Taka, practically shouted at me as he shook my hand enthusiastically.
