"R-right, let's form a plan of attack here. Not literal of course, but we should decide on what to do. I say we each go around and list off our names and our talents, just to see who will be most helpful in our full breakdown of the place." Chihiro exclaimed, smiling nervously at us.
"Yes. I agree. Those who prove useful can aid us in our investigation of the place, those who are not can stay out of our way." The sour boy from earlier scowled, pushing his glasses farther up on his nose.
"Okay. I guess I will start-" I began, "-my name is Leon Kuwata, I am the ultimate soldier."
"My name is Chihiro Fujisaki, I am the super high school level moral compass, pleased to meet you guys." Chihiro bowed politely.
"I'm Mondo Owada, ultimate baseball player at your service."
"My name is Sayaka Maizono, the super high school level prodigy." The blue haired girl waved to everyone.
"You freaks can call me Junko Enoshima, ultimate motorcycle gang leader."
"I am Mukuro Ikusaba, the ultimate gambler, pleased to make your acquaintance." The gambler curtsied.
"I am Hifumi Yamada, the ultimate programmer, perhaps we can all be friends here! Or not, your choice lads and lassies."
"You can call me, Sakura Ogami, clairvoyant." The tall woman nodded to herself.
"Aoi Asahina, martial artist." a girl with a red jacket smiled at all of us.
"T-toko fukawa, I'm a pop-idol and lyric writer."
"My name is Makoto Naegi, I am the ultimate fanfic writer." The glasses-wearing boy shyly waved.
"Yasuhiro Hagakure, ultimate lucky student!" A taller boy grinned and did a peace sign with his right hand.
"Kiyotaka Ishimaru, I am the super high school level fashionisha!" Taka said stiffly.
"Celestia Ludenburg, the super high school level writer." A girl with black curled pigtails smirked at us.
We all stared around at each other and noticed there was one left. The tall boy with the glasses hasn't said a word since the beginning of the introductions. He looked around and huffed.
"My name is Byakuya Togami. I don't remember my past, nor my talent. There, I sat in this silly little circle, gave my silly little introduction, are you all satisfied?" he pushed his glasses up again and glared at all of us.
"Whaddya mean you don't remember your talent hotshot? You have brain damage or somethin'?" the blondie, Enoshima, put her hands on her hips and glared right back at Byakuya, who turned his nose up in response.
"It means I don't remember. I awoke along with you all and didn't remember anything at all besides myself, and my family. I suspect it will come back over time but I am not too sure, I have never experienced any of this before. Nor have any of you, I assume."
"You are correct, my glasses-wearing compadre, I cannot recall having experienced this at all in my lifetime, not even in my many hours of programming in my office." Hifumi responded, pushing his own glasses further on his face, Togami rolled his eyes.
"Anyone else have anything pointless to say? Or shall we get on to the actual point of this student-led meeting?" Togami huffed.
Fujisaki piped up again: "Hmm, well, I say we pair up and explore the place, safety in numbers makes the most sense. I hope that we all find something out. I say a bigger-deal talent should be paired with one that needs a bit more help, not to be mean towards other talents or anything, although I doubt pop-star will be any help in this case, no offense Fukawa."
The purple-clad girl shivered, then sputtered out a sentence that sounded like it was "None taken."
"Well then it's settled. Let's split up and search. I'll grab someone useless to go along with me, although someone who is utterly dim-witted won't do. Ludenberg, come with me." Togami motioned towards the writer, who nodded and stepped over towards the blond.
I was dubbed a "useful talent" by Togami, which was at least nice to hear, besides his sour choice of vocabulary, and paired me with Fukawa, the popstar. I met up with the taller girl, and we both set off to investigate the farther-back rooms on the first floor.
A little intro to Fukawa before we continue, as I always note people's altogether aura before I talk to them, she was quite the nervous wreck. A somewhat pretty girl with her rounded glasses, she shook and shivered every step she took. Not that of course there was no reason, we were introduced to an event that would likely give all of us PTSD. The girl stuttered as she spoke and often clung to her fluffy ponytail, and was extremely frantic whenever I asked any questions, so I shut myself up and kept to myself. The few times I asked a question she answered it frankly and mostly was worried about her surroundings.
"So, Togami huh, he's sure a character." I tried making light conversation.
"Yea-yeah, he is..."
"I think he's secretly the person behind this, but I can't be too sure-"
"No! He can't be! I-I mean...we shouldn't go judging people right off of the b-ba-at because they are a litt-little mean, an-and brain damaged, and, and attractive..." Fukawa's gaze dropped to the floor as she started mumbling.
"I see. Well, for your sake I won't say anything, maybe it's Fujisaki since she warmed right up to the weird bear thing."
"Well, I wouldn't go accusing people with little information. It's rude you know?"
"Well yeah but we have to find out things too you know."
"Ma-maybe you're right..."
An awkward silence settled onto us both as we patrolled the halls, Fukawa looking uneasy while I noted more details about the place. Dim lighting was apparently popular in these halls, as well as security cameras and more random bits of steel. I peaked around a corner and tapped Fukawa on the shoulder. She flinched and then looked up.
"Oh, our rooms. Sho-Should we open ours u-up to take a look?"
"I think that's an excellent idea, let's report back here and discuss details, okay?"
Fukawa nodded and unlocked her room, while I strode over to my own and unlocked my door. Stepping inside I noted that it was a lot like a classroom, with the exception of a bed taking up the middle space, a bathroom in the corner, and a closet full of similar clothes to what we are wearing currently. No pajamas, and none of our stuff, except, luckily, my guitar.
It's like we are set in Military barracks, except with the small freedom of my guitar, I thought to myself. I looked around once more and saw a small case upon the writing desk. I opened it and the small case was filled with tools and tinkering items. I set it aside and wandered back out into the hallway, closing the door behind me, listening for the click of the lock, which happened after a few seconds.
Fukawa was already back in the hallway, spotting me immediately as I walked out.
"So, wh-what was in your room?" She asked me with anticipation.
"Well, there was a small bathroom taking up a corner, a thin bed in the center (who puts a bed in the center of the room is beyond me) and a writing desk with a toolkit on it. There was a window but it was paneled like the rest. What about you?"
"Same thing, except my r-room had a sewing kit instead. Those sexist pigs probably gave me one because I'm a girl, what if I wanted to have a tool kit?"
"Yeah, I feel it would be more useful if all of us had a tool kit and a sewing kit. It's a bummer we only got one. Anything else?"
"O-oh! There was also a security camera in the corner of the room, and my bathroom had a lock on it like the main doors to our, our rooms"
Strange, my bathroom didn't have a lock, plus I find it creepy that we have cameras on us at all times. Those chumps, they probably just want to watch killing happen. As if I'd let anyone into my room...
"Alright, well ponytail? Let's get back to the others."
"My nickname is po-ponytail??"
"Yeah, heh, I give all of my classmates nicknames."
We both set off for the gym, looking around for anything suspicious that we didn't catch. We reached the gym where several other pairs were waiting for us. We were one of the last ones to return, considering the far journey.
"Okay, not that everyone is back, let's name our information. First, Yasuhiro Hagakure and Sayaka Maizono in the kitchens!"
"Okay, so, we both went around that area and basically found, like, a main room, with a huge door! We ran into Mondo and Asahina and we tried kicking the door down but to no avail! It's stuck!" Hiro exclaimed, his dreadlock ponytail swung around exuberantly as he talked.
"Yes, the steel door was quite interesting. Then we turned left and found the kitchens, and saw the piles of food in each corner, sorted by food groups. I thought at first that there was no way that amount of food could last us for the rest of our lives! Until monokuma showed up around the corner and told us that the fridge and the other food pyramids will be restocked every day as we eat from it." Maizono told us, Hiro nodded along with her.
"Along with every other room, things were boarded up there too. No way to see into the outside world, which is disappointing, I miss the natural sunlight upon my face." Maizono sighed, touching her cheeks lightly.
"Hmm, interesting. Okay, next up is Naegi and Yamada."
"Well, we found the trash room, but it was locked up. There was an incinerator in there, along with a gigantic trash chute." Naegi explained.
"Yes indeed, we also ran into teddy two-tone and he told us that he is assigning someone on trash duty, Naegi claimed the role and he is the only one with access to the room." Yamada added, "Other than that, it sure is an interesting but plain building."
Soon everyone named their findings, including Fukawa and I.
"Okay, so far we have a kitchen, our rooms, the main door, trash room, sauna, storage room, an AV room, a couple storages, a stairwell, and an infirmary, plus a couple other miscellaneous rooms?" Chihiro counted on her fingers.
"Sounds about right. Plus there is a stairwell leading up to the other floors, however it is locked. We cannot access it." Celeste nodded to herself, confirming her findings.
"Okay. I say we all check in at 8 and 5 every day, report anything, and then cook and eat dinner at 6. We should probably assign two people to cook dinner every day, and it rotates. Same with dishes, although if someone kills someone else we will know who it is considering those two are the only two on dish duty for the week. We also should follow all curfew rules exactly, no exceptions, for safety purposes." Chihiro instructed all of us.
For the next several hours we came up with rules of our own to go along with the curfew rules to make sure that every single person was safe in the building. We took breaks to eat and we all chatted regularly about our lives before the game. It almost seemed normal, and I grew closer to Mondo and Taka, who seemed to have gotten along right away, despite a couple differences in how they wanted things run. Toko even decided to talk to me a little, and lost some of her stutter during our conversations.
I'm beginning to think that Toko is very misunderstood. On the outside she seems frantic, worried, and high-strung, almost aloof in some cases when she has her episodes of silence, which was her way of recharging her social battery. On the inside? She is extremely intelligent about her surroundings, and seems to read people as well as I. Although stuck on Togami, she is opening up to me a little bit more. I can tell it's difficult, yet she perseveres for the sake of making a lone friend in all of this mess. I have to admit, my first friend here was a lot different than I expected.
