Phil's dad gets a fun birthday surprise

TWs: none :)

"Be careful Tommy, it's still pretty hot. Make sure you don't spill it all over the dog," Kristin warned as she handed her youngest son his mug of hot chocolate. Her other two sons sat quietly in their spots, happily sipping on their drinks.

"I won't mum," Tommy grumbled as he carefully took the mug from her, quickly taking a giant sip. He gasped as he spit the drink back into his mug, fanning his mouth out at the heat. His brothers giggled at him, trying to hide their laughter by sticking their noses in their drinks.

"I guess you should listen to me next time, huh?" Kristin remarked as she handed Phil his hot chocolate, who looked over at Tommy in pity.

"Whatever," Tommy muttered in defeat as he sat the mug down in his lap. "So, how awful was Techno's first impression on Gran and Grandad?" he asked Phil. Techno chose to ignore him, still hiding his face in his mug.

Phil huffed as he heaved the last suitcase out of the trunk, leaning over it for a second as he caught his breath. He turned to look at Technoblade, who stood behind him silently watching him unload the baggage.

"Well mate, you ready to meet my parents?" Phil asked the boy, gesturing towards the front door.

Technoblade looked up at him shyly, holding on tightly to the bag that hung from his shoulder. "I guess," he replied, his smooth monotone voice a stark contrast to his nervous nature.

Phil smiled at Technoblade as he reached for his hand, which the boy softly accepted. Phil strolled up the sidewalk to the front porch, dragging Technoblade along behind him. After heaving the suitcases up onto the porch, Phil rang the doorbell as Technoblade stepped closer to him, tugging harder at his hand. Phil wrapped his hand around Technoblade's tighter as the sound of footsteps echoed from inside the house.

A short lady opened the door, her eyes crinkling as a smile spread across her face. "Phil, how are you honey?" she exclaimed as she threw her arms around her son.

"I'm great mum," Phil breathed as he hugged his mother, not letting go of Technoblade's hand. Phil's mother let go at her son, turning to look at the boy next to him, who just stared up at her warily.

"Hello Wil, how are you, sweetie?" Phil's mother asked the boy, who continued to stare up at her blankly, leaning closer to Phil. A look of worry crossed his mother's features as she looked at the boy, then up at her husband, and finally back to her son.

"Phil, why's Wilbur so quiet today? Did something happen? He'd usually be in my arms by now," she asked, her face filled with uneasiness.

"Um, well I'm not quite sure how to say this," Phil started, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. "I was running a bit late, and Wil ran off into the store at the airport. When I went to grab him, I kinda accidentally grabbed the wrong kid, and I didn't realize it until we had gotten off the plane. So, I called his mum and since she had a wedding and I had dad's birthday, we decided to keep each other's kids for a few days. So, uh, happy birthday dad!" Phil explained.

Phil's parents exchanged horrified looks as their gaze slowly turned back to the boy in question, who stood quietly next to Phil, looking at the ground. They slowly regained their focus as they looked back at Phil, who was blushing.

"Phil, I can't believe you did this. How in the world did you mix them up?" Phil's mother asked, still trying to fathom the situation.

Phil's father nudged her gently, turning her attention back to the boy. "You can't blame him too much honey, he does look just like Wil," his dad replied, scanning the boy's features.
