The Legend of Korra Rewrite

Welcome to Republic City I- Korra Backstory

Tenzin- Earth. Fire. Air. Water. When I was a boy, my father, Avatar Aang, told me the story of how he and his friends heroically ended the Hundred Year war. Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko transformed the Fire Nation colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a society where benders and non-benders from all over the world could live and thrive together in peace and harmony. They named the capital of this great land Republic City. Avatar Aang accomplished many remarkable things in his life. But sadly, his time in this world came to an end. And like the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of the Avatar began anew.

'The White Lotus has honoured my family by coming. Thank you,' Tonraq says to them as they enter the hut,

'Welcome,' Seena adds on,

'We have investigated many claims, both here and in the Northern Tribe. All have turned out to be false,' a white lotus member tells the pair,

Seena responds, 'Then you should be happy to know your search has come to an end.'

'What makes you so sure your daughter is the one?,'

'Korra, please come in here,' Seena calls her daughter in from the other room,

'I'm the Avatar. You got to deal with it.,' a little Korra comes barging in showing off an impressive display of bending three out of four elements.

'korra stop fire bending in the house!' Seena yells at her daughter,

'you can play outside!' her father adds,

Korra runs out of the hut to play with Naga and practice her bending.

'Tonraq what do we do with her. Water bending is one thing, you and Master Katara can help with that but how do we raise her until she turns sixteen?'

'I don't know but I'll speak with Chief Sokka to see how we can get some help with her fire and earth bending in the meantime,'

Later that evening korra hears a knock on her door and goes to see who it is, with her hands on her round belly, she demanded, 'who are you?'

'well, hello there little miss, my name is sokka,' he said with a warm kind smile,

'oh, you're the chief daddy was talking about. DAD! The chief is at the door,'

Sokka winched from the small child large mouth, straightening his back to greet her parents.

'thank you chief sokka for coming. this is my wife Seena,'

'its good to meet you seena and of course I'm always willing to help,'

The four of them made their way to the living room to talk. 'I spoke with lord Zuko, and he said it was alright for korra to join him while he trained his grandson. To learn basic control so she can avoid burning your home or potentially harming herself or you. Lord Zuko will be arriving in the morning to escort korra to the fire nation,'

'but what about her water bending lessons here?' Seena questioned,

'I think it could be put on hold for the moment until she returns. She needs the fire bending training more,' Tonraq replied

'I agree and after the year is up she could visit toph's school in either republic city or gaoling to learn earth bending, while id prefer republic city since she could learn from toph herself,' sokka continued,

Seena looked sadly to her daughter, ' so my baby will be gone for two years?'

'this must be hard but its very rare for the avatar's powers to emerge so young and we can't wait till the tradional age of sixteen,'

'thank you chief,'

'you are most welcome, good luck little avatar,' he said before he left their home.

'mommy! mommy! Look it's a dragon!' korra yelled to her mom while dragging her down the hill of snow towards the towering red dragon,

'yes honey I see, slow down Korra!'

Finally meeting up to the dragon Korra giggled when it moved it head to sniff her, 'I see Druk likes you, I am Zuko, and this is my grandson Iroh,'

A shy boy about three or four years older than her peaks out from behind his Grandfather's robes, 'hhii,' he said in a shy quiet voice

'I'm korra,' she told the boy

'youu you you're the avatar,'

'yes I amm!'

'lord Zuko thank you for coming,' Senna said while bowing,

'the pleasure is mine, come Korra its time to go,'

'bye Mommy! Bye Daddy!'

Two weeks later korra was already excelling in her studies with Zuko and Iroh and as a reward Lord Zuko decided to take the kids into Caldera City for some ice cream, flaming komodochicken and fries. Korra was enthralled with all the pretty red homes and warm smiles that greeted her. She wanted to go up and say hi to everyone, but Zuko held her hand back laughing at her. She and Iroh became friends, and he eventually came out of his shyness around her, now the two were playing a fire nation game of hide and explode while Zuko ordered them food from a local truck.

'Korra! Iroh! Food's ready!' the two kids raced each other back and korra wolfed down her komodochicken rubbing her belly in content.

'lets head back now,' Zuko said holding the kids hands once more leading them back to the palace, while they were walking up the pathway to the palace korra heard a whistling noise. Zuko immediately tensed and dropped into a fighting stance as he created shield of fire to protect them from the incoming blast he recognized as combustion bending. Out of the corner of his eye he saw something blue sling past in the direction of the blast. Zuko turned still alert and saw Sokka, Tonraq and Suki running towards him. He relaxed a little when they reached him.

'daddy? What are you doing here?'

'sweetie mommy and I missed you, so we decided to come and take you home for a bit,'

'but daddy I don't wanna leave,'

'dong worry we'll be back,' Korra was confused as to why her father was running away with her in his hands. When she asked he said it was for fun. She brushed it off and enjoyed being wrapped up in her dad's arms again after two weeks. She turned her head to look back at her friend but found he and lord Zuko were no longer there but a pretty lady in green and chief sokka were fighting against four people. That was the last thing she saw before she fell asleep lulled by her dad's rocking movements.
