At My Funeral

"If you bring your boyfriend here again, I'll fire you."

"Yes sir. I apologise."

Ah, it's useless to give honest answers, he would never believe you.

The man immediately left you alone in the cafe, as usual. You sighed tiredly, then sat on the cashier chair. Today was really crazy.

Today was a free day, but not with you. Because you were often to bring your 'boyfriend' to the cafe, you were punished to clean the whole cafe by yourself. You didn't have time to eat or rest for a while, it felt like your body would collapse anytime.

The sound of the cafe door opening made you turn your gaze to it. You saw the figure of the 'cause' you were punished today walking up to you. The man smiled at you, you returned the same smile.

He gave you something he'd been hiding behind his back, a large dandelion bouquet with a bag filled with food and vitamins.

"It's not a special day, right?" You asked with a small laugh. You knew what he meant by giving you that bouquet of dandelions. It fitted you so much today.

Apparently he remembered each flower's meaning you told him.

"It's not. I give it because I love you."

The first flower,

that you received,

because of love.

Because he wanted to give it to you.

Because you were important to him.

Could you have a hope that high?

"Hey, are you crying?"

Chan asked with a worried face when he saw the tears welling up in your eyes. He held your shoulder gently, hoping that you could tell him whatever hurt you.

You quickly shook your head and turned around. Erased a drop that had already fallen to your cheek.

Like you said, you didn't want him to see you cry like this.

Chan came closer to you, put his hands around your waist. He stared at your face from the side then put his head against yours.

"Why, hmm?"

"Ah no. There's dust in my eyes." You said as you tried to free yourself from his embrace. This was not what it should be, you and Chan were not a couple.

The more you tried to escape, the more he strengthened his grip on you. Chan really made you overwhelmed. You were getting more and more rebellious, but he was still determined to hug you tightly.

"Chan- please let me go, we are not a couple-"

"I know," Chan interrupted, "—I told you I'll wait. I know we are not a couple, but for this time let me hug you because of my love for you.

I didn't ask you to reply, so now I'm hugging you from behind.

Please feel it, just for a moment. I want you to feel safe with me."

Chan's words left you speechless for a long time. Because it was true, the more you let him hold you, the more you fell into him. You were increasingly doubting yourself, doubting what you should choose.
