The scent of exhaust fumes and the sound of busy road immediately attack her senses when Rosie takes the first step out of the bookstore. Suddenly a hand gets a hold of her hand, making Rosie turns her head to her friend who pulls her out even more.
“Time sure flies fast,” says Hyeri. “The road is much less emptier when we entered this store.”
Rosie nods as an answer. She keeps her eyes on her friend for a few more seconds, noticing the smile on Hyeri’s face as her eyes keep looking forward, before turning her head to what Hyeri is seeing. A sight of people crossing the busy street isn't a new thing to see although that crowded view becomes even more crowded in Rosie’s eyes. Thanks to those transparent kids that running around the street without any care in the world, thanks to that middle age man who stares intently at the street without any recognition from other people, and thanks to all the ghost that can’t be seen with normal eyes.
“Come on, Rosie. Let’s go.”
Rosie offers a smile to Hyeri as her feet begin to follow the younger girl while calmly ignoring the middle age man who's now staring at them. Rosie isn't sure since when she realizes she can see those that other people can't see but she knows she already has this ability even since she was much younger. She often hid behind her mother when she was just a kid because of this. Her father said maybe it’s in the family, his uncle can see ghost too if Rosie isn’t mistaken but it doesn’t matter much now.
Rosie fixes the bag on her shoulder as she lets out a laugh at the thing Hyeri said. Her eyes catches a sight of transparent tall woman walks closer to her even though Rosie pays her no mind. She lives with this ability long enough to learn how to ignore some ghost’s presence…
“You can see me, can’t you?”
…. Or how to ignore some ghost that try to talk to her, like this ghost. This one is persistence though, seeing how she has followed Rosie around for nearly two weeks now. But Rosie needs to admit it's kind of her fault too. She was looking at this shorthaired ghost a little too long two weeks ago, giving a clue that she can see this ghost.
“Rosie, my bus is coming.”
Rosie turns her head to Hyeri at that as the other girl points to the bus that will reach the bus stop. With one hand on her bag strap while her lips create a smile, Rosie begins to move her other hand up…
“I know you can see me. Why don't you just admit it?”
The grip on her bag strap immediately tightens although her other hand still gives Hyeri a wave as Rosie says, “Be careful on the way home.”
Hyeri smiles at that and waves back as she begins to make her way to the bus. Rosie keeps her eyes on her friend’s back while trying to pay the ghostly figure that towering behind her no heed. Something that becomes harder and harder to do with the way this shorthaired ghost keeps breathing into her ear.
“You’re really a stubborn one.”
Rosie lets out a breath and fixes her bag again. With another wave to Hyeri she turns around, intending to continue her way home. She just a few steps away when she realizes the ghost doesn't follow her this time. With a second of hesitation, she glances backward only to see the transparent woman looking intensely to the other side of the road. Rosie raises an eyebrow before turning her eyes to the said road and sees a blind man still in the middle of crossing the road. She raises another eyebrow and is about to turn around when suddenly the traffic light turns green, making a car moves to the unsuspecting man. With wide eyes, Rosie quickly turns around with a scream in the tip of her tongue but before she can let that out, a teenager pulls the man to the safety. Rosie stops at her track.
