One of a Kind

Beautiful giggles rippled through the dead calm of the clear, moonlit night.
The echoing laughter, mingling with the sound of the gushing waterfall.

The stars twinkled in fondness, at the pure joy radiating off, of two young souls.

"Tae, wait!" A childish voice whined.

"Too slow, Kookie!" An equally adorable voice, shrieked in happiness.

The scented flowers, were being lightly trampled by little feet, running around all over.

Ten-year-old Jungkook, was chasing his seven-year-old best friend Taehyung, yet again.

This field near the cliff had always been a witness to their friendship and today was no different; However, it was uncertain, if it would be the same in the coming future as well.

Suddenly, Taehyung's arm was pulled along into a back hug by his friend.

"Caught you." The Alpha smiled, wrapping his arms around the Omega.

"Silly Kookie, you still lost." Taehyung giggled, his honey sweet voice reaching the Alpha's ears, making him chuckle in response.

Taehyung was a male Omega; he was unique right from birth.

"Why did I lose Tae?" Jungkook asked in a gentle voice, arms still around the Omega's waist.

Taehyung turned around in his arms and looked up at his best friend, a breathtaking smile on his chubby face.

"You were supposed to race with me, not catch me." Tae replied in an obvious tone, shaking his head.

"It's okay, I don't mind losing to you." Jungkook booped Taehyung's nose, making his nose scrunch cutely.

"Kookie," The omega mumbled, suddenly gloomy and Jungkook knew exactly why, he sighed and engulfed Taehyung in a hug.

Taehyung hid himself in the Alpha's chest, inhaling his calming mahogany scent.

Jungkook always treated the Omega with utmost care and gentleness, even though he was not as fragile as he looked.

"I don't want to leave you too, Tae, but I have to." Jungkook explained again, stroking the Omega's fluffy brown hair affectionately.

His heart ached at the thought of staying away from his Taehyung for seven long years, but he had no choice, his father wanted him to train with the Alphas of the Snowy Mountains and being the heir, he was in no position to deny.

"But then, who will train me and my wolf?" Taehyung questioned, slight tears pooling in his unique maroon eyes.

"Your father Tae, isn't he the Pack Alpha?" Jungkook questioned in reply, wiping Tae's and his own tears, that threatened to fall looking at the disheartened expression on the Omega's face.

Taehyung didn't reply, only stood there with a sad pout.

"I'll miss you." Jungkook confessed with a sad smile.

"Me too." Taehyung agreed, looking at the black orbs of the Alpha.

Jungkook and Taehyung belonged to different packs of wolves, but that never came in the way of their friendship, ever since they had met each other four years ago, at this very same place.

"Enough of that pout now, where is that pretty smile?" Jungkook squished the Omega's cheeks, who was a couple of inches shorter.

Taehyung only resisted, not giving the Alpha what he wanted.

"You leave me no choice then." Jungkook said mischievously and started rolling up his sleeves, as Taehyung gasped in realization.

"No, not the tickles!" He squeaked and ran away as quickly as he could.

Taehyung was fast, but ran in the wrong direction, meeting with a dead end of the cliff.

"Nowhere to go now." Jungkook wiggled his fingers playfully, cornering the Omega.

Just as the Alpha leaped forward, Taehyung stepped to the side swiftly, tricking Jungkook.

Unluckily, the grass was slippery and Jungkook lost his balance, falling over the edge of the cliff, to Taehyung's horror.

The Alpha closed his eyes, prepared for the worst, when he felt soft hands clasping his wrist, pulling all of his weight to safety.

He opened his eyes and, steadied himself to see, a tearful Taehyung clinging to his wrist and apologizing.

"It's okay, I'm okay." Jungkook breathlessly hugged the Omega, rubbing his back, calming them both down.

Both of them were equally shocked, but for different reasons.

After a few good minutes of catching their breaths, Jungkook looked at Taehyung in admiration and disbelief.

"How did you pull me up with that small body of yours?" Jungkook asked, amazed.

This was not the first time he had seen the Omega do something unbelievable for his rank, but it always managed to blow him away.

"I saved you, and you're making fun of my size." The Omega complained, wiping his tears away, not realizing what he had done at all.

"I'm sorry." Jungkook couldn't help but chuckle at his obliviousness and Taehyung let out an offended gasp.

"Now you're laughing at me, I had got so scared for you, meanie Alpha." Taehyung said, and turned around to leave, stomping his little feet in anger.

"Tae, wait!" Jungkook whined, yet again, running to catch up with the Omega.

It was always like this with the two, and this is why Jungkook was not afraid to leave Taehyung on his own, the Omega was special, not only to him, but to the entire werewolf kind.

Not everyone knew about Taehyung being different than normal Omegas and they had to keep it that way for several reasons.

Both Taehyung and Jungkook were sons of pack Alphas.

Jeon Jungkook was the son of Alpha Jeon Junghoon; Head of the Nova Pack and Kim Taehyung was the son of Alpha Kim Seojoon; Head of the Calyx Pack.

Alpha Kim and Alpha Jeon were both strong leaders and respected members of the Werewolf Council and probably the only pack leaders who were close to each other.

Alpha Kim had faced a lot of criticism during the time when Taehyung was born, a male omega as an heir was unacceptable to the world and so it became an unsaid fact that Taehyung's cousin, the Alpha son of Seojoon's younger brother, would be next pack Alpha.

Seojoon never detested his precious son for his rank and loved him for the beautiful and kind soul he was, just like his wife, his beloved Luna named Aera.

Kim Aera knew how cruel the world could be to Omegas and especially a male Omega like her son.

She was protective towards him and her sensitive heart broke every time she heard anything bad about Taehyung.

She prayed to the Moon Goddess with utmost sincerity and diligence, to always keep Taehyung from harm; but she never imagined her prayers would be answered in such an extraordinary way.
