Thirty Two

ASHTON

I wrapped the sheets around her and carried her inside, careful not to wake her. I walk in my apartment to see Luke stressing out. "Ashton help," he begged.

"Shhh," i walked over and placed Lauren down on the sofa.

I walked over to Luke and kept my voice low, "What happened? Why are you still in last night's clothes?"

"I woke up in a girl's bed," he muttered.

I smiled, "Wahey, good on ya' mate."

"No, no," he panicked, "not good. It was Amy's bed. You know, Michael's girl? Thats not the worst part. I think Amy, Michael and I might've had a um. . . Threesome."

I held in my laughter as much as I could but ended up laughing louder than I expected. I heard a groan come from the sofa. "Ash?" Her angelic voice spoke.

"I'm here," i walked over and sat beside her legs on the edge of the sofa. "You okay?"

"My head," she groaned. "Water?"

"How about my hangover cure?" I asked.

"If you're talking about a smoothie that looks like a green slime then you can go fuck yourself," she groaned as she turned onto her stomach, her face in the cushion.

I stood up and walked over to Luke. I grabbed two glasses and filled them with water. I slid one across the counter to Luke. "Thanks mate," he smiled.

"Is that Luke?" Lauren asked.

"Yeah," i smiled as I sat down on the coffee table opposite her. "Baby, turn over." I heard Luke chuckle. Dirty minded bugger.

She turned over and sat up, taking the water and drinking it. She handed it to me. She didn't look so good. "Are you feeling okay?" I asked.

She shook her head and her hand clamped over her mouth. I set the glass down. She threw the sheet off her and ran into the bathroom. The next thing I know, she's throwing up.

I stood up and looked at Luke. He said, "attend to her. I'm good raiding your fridge in here." I flashed him a smile before running in to the bathroom.

I brushed her hair back with my fingers and held it back. "It's okay baby," i reassured her. I held her hair with one hand and rubbed her back with the other.

Once she was empty, she was too exhausted to even hold her head up. She rested her cheek on the seat of the toilet. I said, "come on darling. Lets get you up."

"No," she groaned. "I'm too tired."

I said, "come on." I gently lifted her up like she was a two year old child. Her arms around my neck, her legs around my waist as she clung to me. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a spare washing up basin from under the sink.

I walked over to Luke and said, "You want to watch tv with us or?"

"Sure," he smiled and took a seat on the armchair.

I set the basin down on the coffee table. I sat down and Lauren unwound her legs from around my waist. I lay down on my side, spooning Lauren.

Luke said, "What shall we watch?"

"How about the vampire diaries?" I smiled, knowing Lauren would appreciate it. "How does that sound Lauren?"

Luke said, "I think she's out cold man."

"Lauren?" I whispered. There was no response. I looked to Luke and quietly spoke, "How about Friends?"

"Ross and Rachel are literally every person's relationship goals," Luke chuckled. "Why can't I get girls?"

"Because like I said, girls like more confident guys," i shrugged, "and well, you aren't a douche."

He smiled at that. He said, "I'm happy for you. You have her."

"My own personal Rachel," i smiled as I stroked Lauren's long hair. "But you can have endless one night stands."

"True. But I don't want that, not anymore. A year ago I was loving life as i left a trail of broken hearts. Sick, isn't it?" He said, "Well now I don't want to be that guy. I want to be that guy who wakes up beside a girl every morning. The problem is in finding the right girl."

"My mum always said to me: 'choose the girl who's a lazy sunday afternoon over the girl who's the Saturday night'. I guess I follow that to a certain extent," i said. "Lauren enticed me with her charm and witt. But now that I know the real her, she's my lazy sunday afternoon; in a good way of course."

Luke smiled at me, "you know what? Ross and Rachel aren't my goals. You two are my goals. I mean, she's your lazy sunday afternoon."
