The demons were hot on their heels.
They swooped down, capturing Dasdrund and Tereq, and were now coming for Nick.
Mario had grown into a giant, swooping down in order to get the pearl, but Nick won't give up... Even if it costs him his life!
"Erik! Take my father! I'll handle the rest! Go!" Nick screamed at the top of his lungs.
"No! We can't leave you to do this all alone!" Mark shouted.
"Yes," Erik agreed.
"He wants me! They've got Tereq and Dasdrund. You are just endangering your lives, I can-" Nick received a mighty blow on his jaw, blood dripping from his lips and numerous vampires feasting on it.
It was a demon, and Mario's blow was coming next!
In a swift movement, Nick jumped to a dive roll, dodging the oncoming attack from Mario's giant fists.
"That pearl is mine!" Mario shrieked thunderously, his body wilting to rotten flesh, fangs growing from his filthy mouth, claws sprouting up his limbs.
He didn't look anything like himself.
He had combined the spirits of all demons in hell into one body... And Nick would have to face that all alone, no matter what.
"Give... Me..." The monster drawled, blood dripping from its mouth in showers.
"No!" Nick refused with courage.
"Nick, you can't do this alone, you'll die!" Nick's dad cried from afar.
"I'll prove you wrong. This war started, and it must end!" Nick replied in a stern voice, his jaw tightening.
"Just care about yourself for now, I'll be okay," Nick added, staring eye-to-hollow-eye with the beast.
"Give... Me..." It drawled again, taking a step closer.
"No!" Nick held the pearl high as the demon raised its hand, "my family!"
A strong barrier wrapped Nick, the beast striking it with great force, breaking off its hand.
The demon growled in pain and chased. Nick.
Nick retrieved the pearl, and ran behind a huge rock.
The monster lifted the rock with its good arm, tossing it to the side.
It reached for Nick, Nick dodged and Erik swiftly flew, kicking a large rock down on the monster's arm.
"That pearl is mine! I powered it with my blood!" It screamed, pulling the heavy weight off its arm.
"No! It's not yours!" Nick screamed back.
The monster moved forward, cornering Nick to a wall.
"Give me... Or die!" It thundered.
"No!" Nick transformed the pearl to a sword and thrusted it into the monster's right leg.
Nick held onto the sword, summoning the power from his ancestors and charging it into the sword.
The sword sparked, making loud crackling sounds, creating lines of bright blue that wrapped round the monster.
"No! This can't be happening!" The monster screamed in pain as Mr. Phillips and Erik watched I awe from afar.
Nick charging more power.
The monster's body was cracking.
Nick felt his life slipping away as he screamed.
' I shall finish this even if I die...'
Nice screamed louder as the blue engulfed him too.
"No!!!" Nick and Mario screamed as the blue energy burst, flinging both counterparts to different directions.
The pearl dropped to the ground, flickering with a faint blue.
Nick must get the pearl as Mario was hot on it.
"Erik! Fly as quickly as you can before Mario gets it!" Mr. Phillips cried, rushing over to Nick.
"You don't own this," Erik spoke, picking up the pearl and staring straight into Mario's fiery eyes.
"Give me..." Mario bowed his head in defeat.
"No," Erik refused and walked over to Nick and his dad.
"You have to finish this, Nick. The ancestors will help you. If you die, I'm sure Master Stragnoria, the emperor of heaven will give you a new life," Erik bent on one knee to help Nick up.
"I'm so weak, I don't know if I can finish this," Nick spoke in a weak voice, closing his eyes.
"You can, and you will, son. I'm right here if you need me," Mark said.
"Now that Mario is weak, this is our chance to destroy him," Erik informed.
"Wait, Mario said he powered the pearl with his blood, which means, he is bound to it. Whenever the pearl's power is weak, Mario becomes weak. So, what if we drain off the power of the pearl and destroy it?" Nick spoke his thoughts.
"That's very thoughtful. I don't know about destroying the pearl, but let's drain off the power first and see if Mario gets weaker." Mr. Phillips said.
"That's true. And we would do this together!" They all shouted.
