14: Reverse

"I'm ready for war, Mario, it's no more play time."

Nick was fuming as he said those words.

He looked at Mario who was still crouched down on the floor.

"Are you ready?" Nick asked him.

"Darn, ask me that again," Mario replied without interest.

Nick was angry and stamped on Mario, but to his surprise, his feet went through Mario's body and he felt a cold hand on his neck strangling him.

Mario disappeared from the floor and as Nick turned back, he noticed that it was Mario strangling him.

"Now, let me reverse the question: 'Are you ready? '" Mario spoke, his deep voice sending a buzz over Nick.

Shit!

Reversion of fate again.

"Let go of me!" Nick shouted as Mario's grip tightened.

"You wanted war, so it has started." Mario said, chuckling.

Nick decided to use his powers as he didn't want to fall unconscious again.

He thought of his family and placed the pearl on Mario's arms.

"My Family!" He shouted as Mario felt a huge zap of electricity making him let go.

Nick ran out of the tunnel and saw the cage his sister and his mom were in was broken and he saw them, hiding behind a huge rock.

"Mom? Chloe? It's me," Nick said softly as he padded his way to them.

"Nick!" Nick's mom exclaimed as she rushed to him and wrapped her arms round him in a tight embrace.

Chloe also did the same.

"Where have you been, Nick? Did you find your dad?" Nick's mom asked, worry skating all over her face.

"No, mom, I haven't seen dad yet, but, there is no time. I need you guys to be very careful and find a place to hide. There is going to be a war." Nick said, as he looked around to make sure no one was coming.

"War?! Who's gonna fight it? If it is you, you are not going anywhere!" Nick's mom screamed, very scared.

"Mom, you have to understand. I have to save earth even if it costs me my life." Nick explained to his mom.

"What stupid earth?! What even started this nonsense? You are speaking trash, son!" Nick's mom bellowed, "I don't care even if the whole world crumbles,all I care about is that my family is safe!"

"Look, mom, if you keep us safe and the world crumbles, where would we stay? We wouldn't survive! Isn't it better if I go and come back successful? Even if I lost my life, it is better than the doom that will happen if I don't fight! Mom, I know you are worried, but, please, you need to let—"

"What an overly sentimental, cheesy, family reunion." Mario said, clapping, interrupting Nick's conversation with his mother.

"But, it's so funny because it is going on on a war ground. You said you were ready for war, but by the look of it, you want to fight war with a fat, puffy-faced old hag and a six-year old against a whole army of demons." Mario said, snickering.

"Don't you dare insult my mom!" Nick spat, "and point of correction, I have more defense than you think." Nick said, waving the pearl slowly at Mario, intimidating him.

With a flick of his finger, Mario ordered, "Let the war begin!" And the demons roared happily as they stormed towards Nick.

Chloe began to scream, and Nick's mom's face was masked with fear.

Nick shielded them as the demons got closer.

When they were at full speed and very close, Nick waved the pearl in a circular motion and cried, "My Family!"

A portal leading to the top of the battlefield was created, and in they stepped, leaving the demons crashing into each other.

That's yet another one!
